STOP AUTO SYNC

my zune 30s & 2.3 firmware act unpredictably. one zune is mine and one is my son's. whenever i connect one (it doesn't matter which one), it will delete some media from the device. the media may still be in my library (or not) and I have all of the places checked to let me chose what to sync. how can i stop it from syncing automatically & randomly deleting media from my zunes? tia

Connect it as a guest?

What functionality, if any, will I lose by connecting as a guest? How do I make it connect consistently as a guest instead of a "local" device? ThX
