Hello,
I have a Zune 30 that I am having multiple issues with. The first issue is that when I add an album, software finds the correct number of files but then loads significantly less than that number to my collection. When I try to add a missing file in manually (by drag and drop from Explorer), it will add that file but take away a different file from the list. It doesn't do this always, but I'm noticing it more and more. I don't know if it makes a difference, but the albums I'm having problems with are audiobooks if that makes any difference. I could be having the same issue with my ripped CDs but haven't looked too closely at those yet. |

Could it be that some of your media is not tagged correctly and just getting lost to "Unknown Artist"?

That is not it. All of the files are tagged identically and when I manually drop a file in (for example, Chapter 1), it will remove another file (Chapter 5) while leaving Chapter 1. I then drop in Chapter 5, and it will remove Chapter 1 while leaving in Chapter 5. I can repeat this endlessly. I have tried removing all files in the playlist from my collection and readding - no help. I have tried moving the original files to my local drive and adding from there - no help.

I think I found the solution to this issue. It was not adding those files because it thought it already had them. If 2 files had the same album and size, then it just assumed they were identical files. I tried modifying the time stamp to see if that would help Zune differentiate between the 2 files, but it did not seem to help. So I went into Itunes and modified the album name on the trouble files and it then added that file without issue. If anyone knows of an easier (i.e. less time consuming method when there are over 50 files to modify), please let me know.

Thanks for that bit of info... I've always wondered how the Zune knew what what loaded and I assumed it was just tags alone.
I don't know of an easier way, sorry. Glad you got it solved nonetheless!
