Windows won't uninstall software

I own a Zune 80gig

VERSION OF ZUNE SOFTWARE/FIRMWARE

Software: 2.1888..2/ Firmware 2.3 (1145)

OPERATING SYSTEM

Windows Vista

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
=======================
I have several issues but am hoping an uninstall/reinstall would help. Windows is not uninstalling.
After asking me if I am sure I want to remove a blip comes up that says �Preparing To Remove� This lasts a couple of minutes when another blip comes up and says �Please wait while Windows configures Zune� with a line underneath: �Gathering Required information�. It give a status bar,counts down to zero then nothing.

THINGS ATTEMPTED SO FAR

This is my first step. I�m not sure what to do. Someone suggested using a third party app to do the deed. To that I say BAH!

HAVE YOU SEARCHED ONLINE/ZUNEBOARDS TO FIND A SOLUTION?

No .
