VERSION OF ZUNE
====================== 80gb VERSION OF ZUNE SOFTWARE/FIRMWARE ===================================== I really don't know... the newest one? OPERATING SYSTEM ====================== XP Home SP2 32bit PROBLEM DESCRIPTION ======================= Whenever I turn on the Zune, it freezes at the screen that says "3 Please wait." During this time I can't restart, so I have to let the battery die. If I connect the Zune to my computer it doesn't recognize it and the Zune displays "5 Contact Support" while the battery charges. I can restart after this, however if I do it will go back to my first problem after and I will need to let the battery die. It worked fine one day, the next it wouldn't start and it's been that way for about a week. I've only had it for about a month and it's gone through very minimal use. THINGS ATTEMPTED SO FAR =========================== The first time it happened, I let the battery die. I've attempted to delete the contents but I get frozen at "3 Please wait." Tried deleting the firmware too, same mess. I really don't want to have to deal with Zune support because I know they're going to treat me like an idiot and not really resolve my problem at all. They'll just either tell me I'm screwed or send me a new one which will take longer than I've had the Zune working. This happened with the last MP3 player I had, which is why I bought a Zune to replace it. Little did I know... HAVE YOU SEARCHED ONLINE/ZUNEBOARDS TO FIND A SOLUTION? ================================================== ======== Yeah for the past week I have. Maybe I'm just bad at lurking but I haven't found a solution... HAVE YOU RECEIVED ANY ERROR MESSAGES? ======================================== None. Just freezing. |

Sounds like you did your homework. What I'd have recommended was reloading the firmware and letting the battery die.
Unfortunately, I think Zune Support is your best bet. If you feel you aren't getting anywhere with them, ask to be upgraded to tier 2 support. You could try one of the experimental driver issues, which may allow your zune to connect to your computer: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/gen...er-issues.html

If not then I'll just deal with Zune support, hopefully they'll just send me a new one instead of having me tinker with it if I can't resolve it. Thanks! Last edited by piratepaul : 01-20-2008 at 09:25 PM. |

Ok, they seem pretty hit and miss, so cross your fingers ; )
