Do I need any specific software to wirelessly synch my Zune? and can I charge it this way?

No, just the Zune software and a wireless connection

Yes, because you have to be connected to the dock for it to sync.

You can also wirelessly sync without the dock, however, it doesn't automatically sync, unlike with the dock. However, it does not charge wirelessly without the dock, since as we all know, power isn't wireless
