Two great DVD to mpeg-4 or h264 video converters are Handbrake and Staxip.

Ah, can't believe I forgot handbrake. I've got it on my computer too.

Never heard of staxrip before, but it looks sweet. Thanks for the links! Added and credit given. I'd rep, but I need to spread it around more.

Does anyone of these, other than SUPER, allow you to keep the original video size?

...pretty much all of them actually. They're highly customizable. I threw out all the crap converters.

It also depends on what format you want to convert

I normally use www.mediaconverter.org , an online converter, but lately I've been having some issues with it. It works really well for youtube vids though. I'll try out some of the ones that are listed here

Yeah, youtube is pretty much all those online converters are good for. Anything else and they tend to get overwhelmed.

If you are looking for an audio converter, foobar2000 might be a good choice. Note that it is also an audio player.

Hi, I'm new to the Zune boards, so If I ask any stupid ones, my bad!
Dizzy, you appear to be uber, so, do you have a fav converter?
Is one easy to use and does all the junk one would need for the occasional use? I'm buying wifey a zune , we have XP pro and won't be loading any TV I don't think.

Just in case, our oldest D/Ls lots of TV shows onto her comp, (will be asking her how, just in case Wifey wants to D/L 30 Rock or Family Guy for road trips) could they be loaded onto a Zune?
Thanks in advance
G.

hmm.. well, i'm not sure about dizzy's favorite converter, but my is winavi, since it works on most of the formats like rmvb, divx, etc.. faster than most programs i used. Winavi is pretty simple just a few setting to change res.. like when you select video, go advance for setting, then change res to 320x240 for zune mainly. but.. the only part is.. the software i use cost about $20 USD... not free.. for free. you might have a chance of finding cucusoft or whatever it is.. i never tried it.. but i heard that zune software actually comes with a converter built in it.. so you can just drag and drop and let the zune software convert it i think.. zune uses mp4 or wmv format.

Free is good, but not too important if it isn't overly expensive.
I'm pretty sure it'll be the Zune 30, does that one come with the video loading software?

Oldest told me the name of the software she uses to D/L TV episodes to her pile, something "Turrent ".
Will the "Market Place" software handle the rest from there?
