I have MagicMP3Tagger and MP3Tag. I have one song I cannot get synced. Zune software keeps giving me "invalid file type error CD011.." the song is listed as ID3V1 tag and I cant figure out how to change that to V2...atleast I assume thats the problem. When I open up my music folder, no info on the song is diplayed, but I have changed it using MP3Tag and it shows having the info...but my music folder doesnt show it...WTF. When I drag it over to the zune software, it keeps giving me the above error. So I do I change the actual "ID" tag to V2 which I assume is the problem. And I have no idea why my music folder isnt showing the song info updated even though the tagger software does...AAHHH

downloaded....opened and changed the file....still no change. After changing it, I clicked close as I couldnt find a save button. Went into music folder again and the data isnt listed. So I opened it back up in Zmeta....the info was gone..back to the way it was.

Did you reset your library after you fixed the tags with MP3Tag?

I did reset it. I went through ALL of my music using MP3Tag and corrected all of them. Reset the library, resynced, and I have over 300 songs listed under "unkown". The weird thing is....I swear most of those were not there yesterday. songs that were filled correctly, arent now. I've changed all the tags to V2.4, they have all the corrected metadata, and it still isnt syncing right.
When I look at the zune software..I have 388 "unknown" artist. Acording to MP#Tag....there aren't any. So why isnt it syncing correctly when MP3Tag says there all there, but the zune software doesnt see them right? Its like I'm going backwords I;m noticing if that I go back and resave the tag...it takes it out of the "unknown" list on the zune software. But now I have doubles and tripples of allot of music on the device!!! I dont know what to do. Last edited by speedster00 : 12-20-2007 at 01:20 PM. Reason: adding info |

I may have already missed you mentioning it but have you tried stripping the tags? I have found for a few files that simply updating tags wasn't quite enough. For those, I would strip the tags and essentially rebuild them from scratch.
When using mp3Tag, if you view the Options you will see at the bottom of the window that there are options to remove v1, v2, and APE tags. If you deselect all but those options, it will strip all of the tags from the file. Once they are stripped, you will need to repopulate the values. Rebuilding tags from scratch is sometimes a pain by hand. Of course, you can always use another external program to pull updates from the web. In the past, when I have had some truly stubborn albums, stripping the tags and rebuilding helped quite a bit. You may want to try to tackle them an album at a time. I know that will be tedious from my own personal experience but if you find a need to strip and rebuild tags, working with 10-15 at a time is more easier than working with close to 400. ![]() |

To fix those doubles/triples, see: Removing Duplicates
