Default new zune media adding doubles, wanting software downgrade...

First off, is it possible to downgrade the software? Well I absolutely hate the new zune software with a passion. I mean I love my zune but the software is so horrible and so little options. Well anyways to the point here, When I format my zune and re-add the songs it adds doubles??? What the ****? I love the new look tho, but seriously the new software should just die..It doesn't even detect all of my music... ITS ****ING PISSING ME OFF

I don't advocate downgrading and have not done so. I can't give any advice or assistance. However, I can point you to this thread on Zune.net and the caveat. I would read a good portion of the comments to see what results others may have had.

Again, I do not advocate this and have not done so. From emanoyhl at Zune.net:

the only thing watch for is the typo in that posting... - do NOT rename the cab file from 0104xxxx.cab to 0105xxxx.cab.... KEEP IT AS IT IS

enjoy
The problems you see with the doubles is most likely due to the format of the ID3 v2 tags. From what I and others have tested and experienced, the Zune software sometimes has problems with v2 tags if they are not in a particular format (UTF-8). A program like mp3Tag will allow you to set the format of the tags as well as the values in the tags.

You will first want to clean up the duplicates. To clean all of them off your Zune, you can take one of 2 approaches:

Erase all content. This is an option from within the software. However, you will have to resync everything.

The second method takes less time but is more labor intensive. You will have to delete the songs from your Zune and then close and relaunch the software until the duplicates are gone.
  • Launch the software. Plug in the Zune and sync. Most likely, you will see the songs added once again.
  • Select the songs from the Collection and select Never Sync. One copy of each track will be removed from the Zune.
  • Close the software and relaunch. On the initial sync, you should see a message that one of the duplicated tracks was removed.
  • Repeat closing and relaunching the software until you get no more messages that tracks are removed.
  • Once finished, unplug your Zune.
  • Remove the albums from your Collection.
  • Load the album in mp3Tag, select UTF-8 for v2 tags, and save.
  • Re-import the album.
  • If it imported correctly, plug in the Zune and Sync to Device.

One method that should work in removing doubles is to erase all content from your device and resync it all

Press and hold the back+center+right buttons and the zune will delete everything on it except the firmware.

However, if you really want to downgrade, here's a link: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/com...supported.html

Edit: Khu wins!
