Angry [SOLVED] The specified service does not exist as an installed service

Hi all,

just got my first zune (brown 30GB firmware 1.0) and can't get it to go... everytime I connect it I get:

Quote:
There was a problem installing this hardware:
Zune

An error occured during the installation of the device.
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
I've tried the software that was on the cd that came with it, I've tried the latest software from the official zune page (zunesetuppkg-x86.exe), one from a KB artice (ZunePackage.exe), and even SZIP and used UnZoone between to make sure uninstalls were complete.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

EDIT:
All fixed... reinstalled WMP11

When I read that, I think it sounds like you're missing a file somewhere in your windows directory. Especially if none of the methods of installing worked.

Are you installing as an Administrator?

It should work on Windows XP SP2 no problems whatsoever usually. Is everything updated (as in Windows Updates)?

Default the specified service does not exist as an installed device

This worked for me too. After working on this problem off and on for a week, doing all the things MS said to do, I stumbled on this possible solution. I reinstalled WMP 11 and was able to get my Zune installed.
