I have over 12,000 songs in my Music folder, but for some reason only 6,000 were added to my collection. Anyone know what is going on with it? Itunes gets all the songs into the library but the ZUNE or WMP doesnt. All the songs are in MP3 format, so format shouldnt be the reason. Also some of the songs that are not being added are in their specific artist folders in my Music folder, could that be the reason?
Someone help please because I cant seem to figure out why the software isnt adding the songs. I have started to use MusicBrainz Picard to update the tags but still nothing. For example my RHCP-Greatest hits cd is not in my library, i update the tags and still nothing. I still dont know why my songs are not showing up, but yet shows up in Itunes another edit...If I add the specific folder which the songs are in then it finally shows up. But all my songs are specific folders according to artists...so i dont know why some folders are being added. anyone able to help?? Last edited by Draconis1410 : 12-08-2007 at 02:06 AM. I guess the only think you can do is add the artists folders. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. I had the same problem, but eventually it fixed itself without me having to add the artist folders.
Occasionally, just check the bottom of the screen when you turn on the software to see if it see like "Media updated. # files added."

In some of these cases, the tagging can turn out to be the root cause. The Zune software seems to have problems at times correctly reading ID3 v2 tags. The tags come in several flavors and depending on which one has been used, you could see some strange behavior. Again, this is related to the type of tag and not the value of the tag.
I would suggest playing around with a single album that you know cannot be imported and see if some of the following may help. First, if you haven't already, grab a copy of the free mp3Tag. There are many tag editors out there but this has a few advantages:
The particular formats that seem to give problems are the ID3 v2 tags when encoded in UTF-16 or ISO format. UTF-8 doesn't seem to be a problem. Problems reading the encoding can manifest in one or many of the following ways among others:
If you load your test album into mp3Tag, use the settings to make sure the ID3 v2 tags are written using UTF-8. Save and then import into your Collection. If this proves successful, you may want to try this on the rest of your files. ![]() |
