Zune wants to delete half my library?
So I just added the complete discography of The Beatles to the poor Zune. This is 600+ songs and 3GB. I'm not worried about space as this is a 30GB model with over 22 gigs free. I sync the device with the new songs and scroll down the list to see how long it will take (FOREVER.) Suddenly I notice a new field: "Items to be removed from device." What!? I never told you to remove anything! Included in this new list are some of my favourite albums, too, with most of my highest-starred songs. There is no way I would have deleted these.
I checked the Zune software's library, the one not on my device, and it seems to have chucked these albums as well, showing no trace of the songs whatsoever. Confused and upset, I stopped the sync (after it finished the Beatles but before it could kill off anything else) and checked the external hard drive where all of my songs are stored. There are all my albums, songs, videos... In perfect working order, right alongside The Beatles in my "music" folder, which the zune library has been instructed to scan for songs. Apparently the fickle device has decided to ignore half my collection.
In summation, my question: Why has Zune decided to delete these songs, which have obviously not been tampered with nor marked for deletion? Will I have to manually oversee every sync from here on out or is there some way to make the software less destructive?
Thanks so much for any help!
