tried the back button and up on zune pad and back button, left and middle button and neither worked. i'm thinkin it's because i updated to the v2 software

any help? been like this for a few days but haven't gotten around to fix it. but what else should i have expected from a microsoft product

It should work regardless of the firmware version.
For the Back part of the sequence, you use the button that looks like this: <-
and the rest are D-Pad directions

Merged threads. And Faded is right, I have personally re-did all the button combos myself to see if they would work and they do.

Yeah. Delete everything on it including the firmware.

the restoring must've not worked because i was at the error screen, not the reset screen

Well, formating your device has the possibility of fixing that anyway. Try what I said and report back with what happens
