I had the same issue on both my PC and laptop. I was using the front USB ports on my desktop and one of the side ports on my laptop and it would sync a few tracks and then I would get the error about the device not responding almost every single time. As soon as I started using the rear USB ports on both the desktop and laptop I have never hit this error again. I suspect that there are issues using USB ports that do not have dedicated power to them.

Actually, I think it's because most rear usb ports are directly connected to the motherboard while most others aren't. It needs a direct connection

It's a pretty common problem, but unfortunately I haven't found a fix. I'll be sure to post when I do.
