Zune Bus Root Enumerator
Anyone else getting this message? Mine is a fatal error that says the hardware wasn't installed or something. I had to do the regedit thing to stop the software from rolling back or whatever and the zune software works now. But I get a constant nagging about a Zune Bus Root Enumerator.
When I try to update the software I get this error..

I tried the solution here: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/zun...x80070643.html which is the only reason why the Zune software is running, but it doesn't allow me to delete music from the zune. And it doesn't read the zune properly, the music listed are all weird.

So it works now, but it's not fully functional?
I'm at a loss. Sorry.
Perhaps it's time to call MS?

Hey try SZIP v2
( http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/com...highlight=szip).
I tried it today and it installed fine. I had had all sorts of error messages before including one about Zune Bus Enumerator. Then when I went to run the program I got an error reporting message and the program would not launch, so I ran a repair for .NET Framework 2.0 and then restarted the computer like it asked.
(Next, I also had a message about a new device and a need to install upon the system startup. I had to go into the program files and find the Zune Bus Enumerator driver and install that manually and restart the computer, but that could have just been something specific to my problem).
Now everything is running smoothly, except for the info for all of my music, which is all screwed up just like everyone else's.
Hope this helps your problem.

Can you explain how you installed the Zune Bus Enumerator manually?
Thanks,

Cool, the software is on now... But when I try to update or plug in my Zune, it says it's new hardware. And when I try to have windows install the drivers, it'll fail. Now what? Weird because when I plug in my Zune, the software displays the image of my zune with the name but says to plug one in. The hell!?!?
EDIT: I get the same error when I try to update the software... Crap!

Weird, the Zune now recognizes my Zune and I can now put music on and finally am able to delete music from the Zune too! YAY! But now the player won't open any music files! It'll just sit there saying opening for the longest time.
Any fix for this?

U Know what I was wrong. In my previous post I said that I had to install it manually, but I don't know what I was thinking. I forgot that it said what yours says about fatal error, but it still let me go on and the next startup there was no prompt for new hardware, but now that annoying pop-up keeps coming on for me about the new hardware and still does the fatal error when I try to install. I don't know why it won't install, but My program still runs and syncs fine, so I don't really mind. I just have to deal with the pop-up at the start of windows, which isn't a big deal for now. I hope Microsoft will fix this with the next software update. SORRY AGAIN!!!
EDIT: Hey there is some update for my Zune Software today, so I will let you know if that fixes anything.
No it didn't, it came up with driver install and rollback errors like it did before.

Thanks Dizzy and Steaklover1,
I too cannot update my software, I get that rollback error junk. But it's okay now that I can sync up with the software. Still doesn't play any music but it's ok I guess, I'll just use WinAmp or something else to play my music.
Hope something comes up to fix this! I want to update the software! Argh!

This fixed my Zune install and rollback problem
Below is how I fixed my DIFXAPP: Rollback failed with error 0×2
Error Code: 0×80070643 error. I would like to give credit to the page I found the answer on but I cannot post a link. You can search Google for "FileVersion of C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\wdf01000.sys is Greater".
I looked at my install log (c:\Windows\Wdf01005Inst.log and saw the following:
0.219: 2007/12/17 12:20:47.765 (local)
0.235: d:\4f3f0ff565f02c91ba608b53d0846492\update\update. exe (version 6.3.4.0)
0.235: Hotfix started with following command line: /quiet
0.235: In Function GetBuildType, line 1170, RegQueryValueEx failed with error 0x2
0.235: C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\wdf01000.sys is Present
0.250: FileVersion of C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\wdf01000.sys is Greater Than 1.5.5600.0
0.250: Condition Check for Line 1 of PreRequisite returned FALSE
0.250: ReadStringFromInf: UpdSpGetLineText failed: 0xe0000102
0.250: Wdf01005 Setup encountered an error: Setup cannot continue because one or more prerequisites required to install Wdf01005 failed. For More details check the Log File c:\windows\Wdf01005Inst.log
0.266: ReadStringFromInf: UpdSpGetLineText failed: 0xe0000102
0.266: Setup cannot continue because one or more prerequisites required to install Wdf01005 failed. For More details check the Log File c:\windows\Wdf01005Inst.log
0.266: Update.exe extended error code = 0xf0f4
0.266: Update.exe return code was masked to 0x643 for MSI custom action compliance.
I saw that the errors in this log were identical to the author in the page above. Similar to what he did I renamed the C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\wdf01000.sys file to wdf01000.sys.bak (it was not being used by any processes) and the Zune install finally completed normally. No exclamations in Device Manager and functioning "Zune Bus Enumerator" and "Zune Bus Root Bus Enumerator" devices.
Hope this helps anyone else.
Dave

*READ THIS* Zune Installer Rollback Error Fix
OMG someone found a way to install Zune the normal way if you got the Install remove and rollback errors when installing. This will fix this and any other problem, such as the Zune Bus Enumerator,or any problem accompanied with half fixes, such as SZIP or DisableRollback in Registry.
Here is the Post by Stager (IDK if anybody knew this before him or not, but here it is)

Step by step:
Click Start and go to my computer.
On the menu bar, click Tools->Folder Options
Go to the Advanced Tab and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"
Now click C:, go to WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\, and find wdf01000.sys
Right click and click rename. Change it from wdf01000.sys to wdf01000.sys.bak
