so...i uninstalled the zune software to fix a problem i was having (songs would nt delete from collection, eventhough i kept telling it to) and now that im trying to reinstall it and its saying that my zune is up to date and so it closes and never even starts the installation.
the thing is, there are no zune files cause i deleted all traces of it. can someone help? i even deleted my temporary files though [run>%temp%>delete] and tried using a download of the software from the website as well as my zune cd and they all act the same...i even tried installing it offline to keep the software from "checking for the lastest updates" but it still happens... i had read a post that said to run the zune-x86.exe to bypast it and it seems to begin installing it but suddently it starts to work backwards and ends up doing nothing (that progress bar starts filling, but then it goes backwards and empty's itself) so yeah..plz help me someone is there a file somewhere that im missing? i deleted everything (including hidden folders and language files ..french and spanish) so yea unless i find an answer ill have to reconfigure my computer to factory settings and thats a BIG hassle that i DONT wanna deal with.... so yeah any thoughts, idea's? ill really appreciate it.. P.S im running vista home premium, 32-bit . and already tried system restore to previous dates, but it doesnt work... |

We have a couple options here to remove Zune Completely.
Either try something from here; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929358 OR Try using UnZoone. <--- That I'll have to look for. The usual page for it is down now.

so...i tried unzoone. and i moved lets say...a step forward.
now i can install zune if i use the 'zune -x86.exe instead of the zuneinstall.exe. i have no issues up to the point where i choose what folders i want zune to check..the next window that ask what formats do i want it to play there are no options shown. so i click next and it ask if i want zune to send microsoft info or something like that, and when i click done...it ...says "microsoft zune has stopped working that its looking for a solution" ..then it says if i want to send the info, i click show details, and says... Description: Stopped working Files that help describe the problem: C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Temp\WERB808.tmp.versio n.txt C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Temp\WERC5DF.tmp.hdmp Read our privacy statement: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=50163&clcid=0x0409 after clicking "debug" it says.... Files that help describe the problem: C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Temp\WER24CF.tmp.versio n.txt C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Temp\WER41C2.tmp.appcom pat.txt C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Temp\WER4339.tmp.hdmp Read our privacy statement: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=50163&clcid=0x0409 (btw the *** is just me covering where my name shows... )also ive tried unzoone to uninstall again to see if it was just something wrong but nope..i keep getting that message...and if i use the real zune installation.exe, it comes up with "ur version is up to date..." ... |

Found this post via google. I have the same exact issue, I am on vista x64.
So I am bumping this to hopefully get more info on how to fix it thank you. edit: I got it to where it "installs" but it installs instantly and basically makes the folders and thats it. And tells me that it failed and yada yada. The whole reason for me to reinstall the zune software was because I think the driver failed for me on my zune. I plugged it in and vista would play the device fails to connect sound when marketplace was open. I'm just tired and frustrated right now. Edit2: Ok it's all fixed now, I did the removing of net framework, and yada yada, and then I ran the correct exe, when I tried running x64 I kept erroring, but then I ran the exe next to the folders x86 and x64 and it worked. Blah, day or bs, but in the end I am still happy I have a zune instead of a ipod Last edited by paleghost : 02-28-2008 at 10:17 PM. Reason: aa |
