Thank you, Ghostz! You pointed me in the right direction. My Zune connected to my wireless network just fine but would not connect to my PC. The Zune Wireless Configuration service was not started. I started it, restarted the Enumerator just to cover all bases, and voila! she syncs like a champ now.
Off topic -- is there anything more annoying than ads on the page that have blinking backgrounds? C'mon, now, Zuneboard admins -- let's have some standards here! |

I have the Zune software installed in two computers, one running XP SP2 and the other running Vista Home Premium. The service Zune Bus Enumerator appears in XP but not in Vista. The Vista PC is my main PC and I stops at "Connecting to PC".
Anyone knows how to start the Zune Bus Enumerator service in Vista? Why does it show in XP but not in Vista? Thanks,

i have the can't connect to PC error on my Zune, i tried everything in the first post, checked my firewalls (i have none), and restarted PC and all those services. I bought the new Zune8 today. In addition, i always have to manually add my network on to zune, even tho SSID broadcast is on, and of course it fails and i add the settings anyways. The zune, however, always gets that "cant connect to pc" error, so i'm assuming the network side is fine and its just software? Well any insight would be appreciated, i have been looking this all up online for 3 hours and ther simply hasn't been a solution that has worked for me.

![]() Anyway, I did try the above technique, without success, but then I used it as a basis for what I tried next. See, I WAS able to wirelessly sync for about a week before I suddenly started to get that "cannot connect to PC" issue. So I knew that the software was properly installed, and that some other gremlin was to blame. So what I did was this: I hit Control-Alt-Delete to get the Task manager. I then went into the Processes tab and killed the four processes that started with ZUNE. They were Zune.exe, ZuneBusEnum.exe, ZuneLauncher.exe, and one other that I can't remember because I'm not using the computer that's set up to sync wirelessly. However, it was the only other process that started with "Zune". Then I went into the Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services as described above, and I started all the services that were described in ghostz's post above. I started the Zune software, and bingo. Wireless Sync was working properly again.

I followed all this written in above posts but no avail. I killed and restarted these Zune processes several times without luck.
I have Zune 30GB that I bought just 1 week ago. I am also getting same problem. Wireless sync stays on the "connecting to PC..." message for long time and eventually it prints an errors "Can't connect to the PC. Make sure that you're logged on." I got the Zune's IP address from my Wireless router logs and while it is trying to connect to my PC I tried to ping Zune's IP from computer and ping was SUCCESS. I have no firewalls installed except Windows firewall and I have verified that UPnP is listed in Firewall Exceptions list. I even shutdown Windows firewall and tried Wireless Sync from Zune, I got same error. I tried from another computer but result is same. |

hellibilly i had the same error 1068 for awhile. What i did was, i went to my services and looked for a service called SSDP Discovery service. It wasn't started so as soon as i started it everything worked perfectly.

Okay here is what I have found. After waking up my laptop back from Sleep or Hibernate mode I realized that I can no longer use wireless sync feature of Zune. Zune gets stuck at "connecting to PC..." status.
Even though my laptop is connected to my wireless router and Internet via wi-fi. After experimenting with various options I found out this trick. I right click on "Wireless Network Connections icon" in system tray and choose "Repair" and let it finish repair process. After that when I tried to use wireless sync feature of Zune it was able to connect to my laptop (you will get to hear a beep when Zune device connects successfully). Not sure if this trick will work for other guys but so far this is the only way I am able to do wireless sync. But no doubt there are some gotchas in Zune's firmware that are causing these issues. |
