Great post. My Zune services were all "running" but I figured I'd try stopping them and restarting, that worked. Next time I will try the "repair network connection" trick. Kind of a pain but I love my wireless sync!!!
Also add "Automatic" as the start-up type for the service
Ghostz's service tweak worked for me. I was able to sync wirelessly. But once I rebooted my machine, the wireless sync stopped working.
I noticed that the Startup type (in XP services) for two of the three Zune services was set to "Manual". I changed the setting for all Zune service to "Automatic" and now I have no issues concerning wireless sync.
Hope this helps some of you...
I also hope Microsoft is scanning the forum; looks like another update is on the way....
yep, Ive got the same problem. i did a bit of digging and it seams that when installed in Vista, the executable "ZuneBusEnum.exe" is not copied to system. on an Install in Windows XP Pro SP2 it is placed into the system32 folder, and there is a Service assigned to run it automatically on startup. However, in Vista this file, and the associated service, isn't there.
i also noticed that there are two "up to date" versions of the software, version 2.1.0888.00 which i found on Vista Home Premium, and version 2.1.0888.02 which i found on Vista Ultimate and XP Pro SP2. i say there both "up to date" because when i tell it to check for updates, all 3 systems come back saying there "up to date" when clearly Home Premium isn't. oh and i did install the Zune software on each system from the same installer.
i tried copying ZuneBusEnum.exe to Vista and running it, but it still does not sync Wirelessly.
Ive got the Zune 30 btw.

I was having the same problem as everyone else; Zune could connect to the network but would hang at "connecting to PC".
I have my PC running Vista, connected wirelessly to my network. I never had the Zune Bus Enumerator service running, just the Zune Network Sharing Service and Zune Wireless Configuration Service. What helped me first correct my problem was realizing that the UPnP Device Host service needs to run with the two Zune services, ie: if you restart the UpnP Device Host service the two Zune services restart as well.
Anyway, I searched deep into the device manager and uninstalled my Zune device and deleted the driver from my computer. When I reconnected my Zune, it needed to initially install TWO drivers, one for the Zune conneted by USB and another for the Zune if it connects wirelessly. When I would try to connect the Zune wirelessly for the first time it would attempt to load the driver but fail. I checked the device manager and under Portable Devices I had a Zune and when I right-clicked it and chose properties it said "unable to load device driver (code 10). The reason it couldn't connect was because the driver was failing to load.
For some reason I decided to remove the network settings from the Zune (connect via USB and go into Settings -> Wireless Sync). I then went into my router and gave my Zune a static IP. If you don't know how to do this I may be able to help.
Once I tried to reconnect wirelessly, my router refreshed the Zune's IP from the dynamic one to the new static one and the Zune was able to connected.
Originally, my router was giving it an IP of 192.168.1.137 chosen through DHCP but now I gave it a static one, 192.168.1.20 (my own constant network devices are given static IPs while all other devices that may connect to my network have DHCP start at 192.168.1.100.
It seems that giving my Zune a static IP was what fixed my wireless connection issue. It works perfectly now.
Great help xraycat, somehow just reading your post made it work? seriously. i was about to start removing drivers and assigning static ip addresses when i decided to just give it one my try. well, i tried the easiest part of your help first, i restarted the UPnP Service just to see if it did restart the two Zune services, it didn't, it restarted WMP Media Sharing service. then i tried the wireless sync on the Zune, and my PC made a noise, installed the Zune Wireless driver, and synced wirelessly. i looked and there is no ZuneBusEnum.exe in System32 either. Interesting.

ok, i had the same problem everyone else has, control panel...services you know the drill. you also have to (apparently my computer is too stupid to have this) turn on universal plug and play
mine still doesn't work but i got some tinkering to do.
I am having the same problem with the ZuneBusEnum.exe. I am running Vista and I have reinstalled the software 5 time it works on my Xp system but not Vista!!!!!
I had this problem, I would hit wireless sync, hear the connection beep, device manager would give me a code 10... the whole 9 yards. I followed your advice and rebooted each of Zune's services, as that seemed reasonable enough though I can't imagine how this would work... now when I try to sync it does not even connect, the computer never recognizes the Zune's existence.
How very strange...
Also, for those of you who still have this problem, if you have Zone Alarm Pro or another software based firewall, kill it. Somehow Zone Alarm (Perhapse the True Vector service, but I'm not sure) creates a conflict for me... shutting down ZA allowed me to wirless sync fine (It's not the firewall itself blocking the Zune either, I've checked that and given it full access.)
You are a great moderator I see in almost every thread i read and post in that you are on top of things, giving your opinion, warnings, and advice to others! Keep it up CameleonMK!

OK You guys im reaching out here.
I am running Server 2003. I can sync through usb no problem . but when i try to sync wirelessly i get nothing. the Zune diagnostic tool shows in the upnp tab the zune when i try to sync wirelessly but i am getting no love otherwise. It doesnt try to install the wireless driver or anything. I have tried restarting the services time and time again. I dont have ZuneBusEnum seeing as how it is not xp. any help would be greatly appreciated. also if you would like i can post the report that the diagnostic tool created. do you think i will need to zunebusenum ? and if u do has anyone had any luck manually installing it.
Well, after spending hours sifting through the forum, I still can't get wireless sync working with my 80GB Zune - it hangs at the 'connecting to PC' stage.
I have:
Vista Ultimate
A wireless Netgear router
Successfully synched via USB cable to this PC
Checked that the required services are running and set to automatic
Configured my router to accept the Zune's MAC address, and configured the Zune with the required network settings including WPA key
Uninstalled and reinstalled the Zune driver
One odd thing:
When I manually re-installed the Zune driver, I noticed an option to install a wireless Zune driver. Upon selecting this driver, the installation of it fails with error code 10. I can't seem to get Windows to automatically install the wireless driver like it originally did with the wired driver. It's possible that until I can get this working, wireless sync is never going to work.
i have vista but can't find the zune bus enumerator and syncing is not working. anybody figured it out for vista?

Suggestions please?
I got the wireless sync working on Vista - the firewall needs to be set up to allow the Zune to connect to the computer. to check this, press start, search for firewall and click on windows firewall. Then click on "Allow a program through Windows Firewall." Go to exceptions, make sure that Network discovery, wireless portable devices, and Zune Network Sharing Service are all checked. I made sure that Zune Wireless Configuration Service and Zune Network Sharing Service were started in Control Panel (classic view)/administrative tools/services. hope this helps if it is still an issue

I'm also still having problems syncing wirelessly with my Zune 80. I never used to have any problems but all of a sudden it started happening. Not sure why. I'm going to keep trying things til I fix it though. Will let you guys know if I find something that fixes my problem as it may fix yours.
I just got my zune 120 and i've done all of the above, and i still get the ol "Can't connect to the pc, make sure that you're logged on". Well trust me, logged on! Anyone else have a solution?
