Default New Zune Rating system Question

Quote:
It’s important to note here, too that the new rating system is transferable. That is, ratings that you had in your existing (pre-November 13 update) will automatically convert to the new system – anything below 2 stars will display as a broken heart, and anything above will display as a heart.
Does anyone have any more info on this? Does it change the ratings at all?

IE. all <2 turn into 1 stars and all over 2 turn into 5's?

If it just reads the rating and turns it into a graphical Heart or Broken Heart then that's fine, but if its updating the ID tags then well.....I might fly to Seattle to punch someone in the face, and then sell my Zune.

(but if its just reading, and not overwriting then I guess I'll be aiiight)

I think what happens is if you have personally rated the song, and you rated it with a 1 or 2, it will get a broken heart. If you rated it 3, 4, or 5, it will get a heart. Unrated songs will still remain unrated. As far as any ID tags getting updated....I'm not sure what you mean. I do, however, wonder if you have auto-playlists (i.e. automatically adds songs 4 stars or above), how will they register the new system? Hrm....

what i was saying what I hope the new rating system wouldn't overwrite the pre-existing ratings in the ID tags

ie.

all hearts turning into 5 stars and all broken turning into 1s in some sort of warped binary re-rating from hell

Probably (hopefully?) not. A 5-star ratings system is pretty standard so it'd be pretty low of MS to go messing with what you've got just for their own software.

WMP uses 5-star ratings too, so I can't seem MS making something like that incompatible.
