Default Latinus est optimis langus ^_^

As the title says, Latin is the language ( tongue ) of the best

Post any and all of your Latin quotes and/or mottos here
Also try and find translations, if you cant
DO NOT USE ONLINE LATIN TRANSLATORS
. I, myself know some Latin and know someone who is actually a teacher in the Language ( nearly 15years worth ).

some of mine are E Pluribis unam which means One From Many this actually shows up on American money frequently
Amicus Versus Rara Avis : A true friend is a rare bird. or for us A true friend is a rare find.
Non Sequitur : Does not Follow, normally pointed at Non sequential humor, since it normally doesnt make sense
Malis Avibus : Bad Bird. or for us Bad Omen

One of my all time favorites mostly because it was said hundreds if not thousands of times over int he Flavian Amphitheatre ( Roman Colosseum ) is:
Morituri Te Salutamus : We, who are about to die, salute you.

One of the most overdone Latin phrases everyone and their great grandmother knows: Carpe Diem

Germans better. End of discussion. DAS ENDE! Nah but really Latin looks confusing to me my German teacher is new this year and uses the Latin teachers room. I always just kinda assumed Latin was a loose language where there is not a lot of grammar, Guess I'm wrong.

lol, not trying to be rude but you are VERY wrong
German is actually based on Latin in a small way, and so is English, albeit its more along the lines of 60% and not a small way.., not mention a large amount of other languages in today's world

Heck an example would be : Forum cras iam. which means, I will go to the forum tomorrow. That is the future tense, there are 2 ways to know that, one is cras, which means tomorrow, and "am" which is the first person Io which means "I go"

an example of the imperfect tense is : Pecuniam euis dabam, pro servis. which means I was giving him the money, for the slave. Imperfect is always noticed by ba

Latin is a very well structured language, although, it does have its share of strange words...

I know I am wrong. I was just saying i used to think of Latin like that when I was younger. I guess it was because I always heard people say "This word is actually Latin" and really never heard anyone talk about Latin like you could make comprehensive sentences out of it. But I stopped believing that when I went to Jr high lol and I'm a senior in high school now.

Canis meus id comedit: my dog ate it
Ita erat quando hic adveni: it was that way when i got here.
Braccae tuae aperiunter
Nullo modo: no way
Fors fortis:
Labra lege: read my lips.
Si hoc adfixum in obice legere potes, et liberaliter educatus et nimis propinquus ades: if you can read this bumper sticker you are very well-educated and much too close.

i have fogotten more than half the meanings... but for some reason the saying stayed... so maybe persistent teachers do have their uses...

Art is long-lasting, Life is short ^_^ love that one

another one i found recently is et docere et rerum exquisere causus: Both to teach, and to find the meaing of things its the motto of UGA

some more are in hoc signo vinces: in this sign, you will win; supposedly this is what god said to Constantine when he became the emperor of Rome and was about to fight a battle, the "sign" was the cross or the chiroo which is two Grecian letters that mean Chr

Aut inveniam viam aut faciam : I will find a way, or make one.
veritas voc liberabit : The truth will set you free
and finally: quis custodiet ipsos custodes? said by Juvenal, it means Who will guard the guards, themselves?

Fors fortis: fat chance
i have no idea why we learnt them o.0
