Default Do you guys believe in Subliminal Messaging?

For those of you who don't know what it is here is a Very breif summary:

Subliminal messaging is displaying text EXTREMELY fast on the screen then disappearing. The text can be on the screen from anywhere between .005 to .04 seconds. Although you do not specifically read the text and comprehend it somewhere deep back in your mind it does. So if on the screen it says "I want McDonald's" 1000 times, Supposedly, you'll want Micky D's!

here's what Wiki says:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subliminal_message

Supposedly, Subliminal Messaging is banned.
However, it is legal to have positive Subliminal Messages on your computer.

So the question is: Are they real? Do they work? Or is it more of a placebo effect then the actual the messages?

I believe it's real, but idk if it really works on me. No matter how many times I see "I want mcdonals" I don't think i'm necessarily going to want it at the time..(although I do love mcdonalds.. )

I am almost sure it works.
Other wise why would McDonald's risk ALL their reputation just to put in a FRAME of their symbol during Iron Chef?

real discrete... Seems just like any other commercial, if you can choose to follow it or not, then how's it different from any other ad?

Of course it works.
It's just tricky to deploy.

Look up Neuro Linguistic Programing on Wikipedia too if you want to look into it more.
I have many "Brain Training" mp3s.

That looks like Iron Chef America; and if that is the case then everything about that show is a joke even the commercials; so subliminal advertising shouldn't work anyway. McDonnalds doesn't break any rules here.

To me that YouTube video is complete BS. As for Subliminal Messages yes I do believe in them, however just as hypnosis an individual must be susceptible to it.

YouTube - Food Network Subliminal Advertising?
that is not subliminal going by the video. When they play it at regular speed you can see it, if you can consciously see it, it is by definition not subliminal messaging

There is little evidence for Subliminal Messaging working. At most you get a placebo effect (like in hypnosis) because in most situations when people garner evidence for it, they know what is going on because honestly, most of the "experiments" aren't scientific.

Yeah, sure, subliminal messaging works. It's been used for decades.

Various psychological tests have been based on this, and as far as I know, none of them have proven subliminal messaging. If it truly did work, I think we'd be catching a lot more of it.

Well if it were truly subliminal, how much about it would be known publicly? Wouldn't it be...well, subliminal?

This is definitely a real incident. Just goggle it. It's everywhere.
However, the point is, A LOT of people didn't see this flash.
The TV broadcaster says that it was a simple "glitch" that caused it.

But, if it was an actual subliminal message they failed HARD CORE!

Yeah I do see some subliminal message in stkr's new sig too cause everytime I see it first thing that comes to mind is Burger King whopper and I'm like woah that is one weird sig.
That is just too weird and I thought I was the only one and that maybe I might be losing my mind alittle bit.

So here's my new test.
I call it, plan SeeHowFatCoryIs (yes it's a test on Cory Soccerfreak24 lol)

So I have subliminal blaster and I put in these messages:
I am hungry
I want food
I want to eat
I want to drink
I am thirsty
I desire a drink
I desire something to eat
I want something to eat
Eating makes me happy
I really want to eat something
I am really hungry
Hunger Is what I have

And we'll see what happens.
Hopefully the effects are temporary.
Otherwise...
