Depends on what you define "enough power"....

Yuck. American cars LOOK pretty (not really, but they've improved), but they are junk under the hood. I would support our country and buy American cars IF they started to produce cars that are worth buying.

Sure, some cars are fast, but if you take them on a track they are pure garbage. American muscle is great, if you drive straight everyday. If I took a mustang around a corner at anything over 35mph I would get the 'rolled over' achievement in GTA:4 (Flipping your car more than 5 times).

I'd go with anything German or Japanese. Solid cars, amazing engineering, and they really do get decent MPG's. And, the biggest thing that is when you turn the wheel on a say Mercedes, VW or BMW, the car doesn't take a second to respond! Amazing isn't it. I've taken my 1996 BMW 328 around bends at 60+ and those things HUG the road.

Edit: I get about 22mpg's in the city with my 1996 328, and about 25 on the highway. I have a lead foot though, and when my parents owned the car it got 25+ in the city and 27+ on the highway.

I agree. Although I think that German cars are better than Japanese.

Ive got a 1987 Mercedes Benz turbo-diesel E-300. Has 374,000 miles on it and runs as great as it did 20 years ago.

Oh, and it gets 28 mpg.

Ever looked at the Honda Fit? It is a tad bit above your price range, but it gets awesome gas milage (~34mpg) It is pretty cool in my opinion.

Those are great cars. My dad has a '75 and '77 240D that got awesome mileage..but we don't use them since we wanted gas. (diesels are hard to start in the winter)

Yeah, my dad wants to get it running again (we haven't started it in awhile), but we still gotta do some fixes on the benz's we're currently using. We can only own them cause my dad does the work...parts are still expensive though. The cars last forever though!
