Felony charges were filed today against a La Crosse teen accused of posting nude photographs of a 16-year-old female on his MySpace page.

Alex Phillips, 17, of W4300 Hwy. M, No. 79, was charged with possession of child pornography, sexual exploitation of a child and defamation in La Crosse County Circuit Court.

La Crosse County authorities confirmed Saturday that Phillips' Web site had two photographs of the naked girl after receiving a tip from police in Janesville, Wis., according to the criminal complaint.

Phillips had no intention of removing the photographs, the complaint stated. Told by police he could go to jail for posting the photos, “his reply was, ‘(Expletive) that. I am keeping them up,’” according to the complaint.

I think the whole think could have been solved by alerting the administration of Myspace.

I haven't been on the site in ages, but I still believe pornography isn't allowed.

As for legal matters...

The charges for possession of child pornography, sexual exploitation of a child are kinda ridiculous... the guy is only 17...

A child exploiting another child is covered by that?
Nor do I consider being 16 being a child...

BUT, he should get some jail time regardless... its still defamation and posting pics of an underage model is still against the law.

A nice hefty fine at the most... and hopefully a good ass kicking for being such a douche bag...<____<

Its no surprise though, I recall a case in where an underaged girl was being prosecuted for distributing child porn because she e-mailed naked pictures of herself to a boyfriend.

Sixteen is a child to me. The average 16 year old is still living with their parents, have not attended college, and could not provide for themselves alone. Either way, he's wrong, and should be punished no matter what age he his. She should be punished for taking nude pictures, though her punishment would have to come from home.

I agree. I child, by law, is anyone under the age of 18. It doesn't matter how old he is, he is still in possesion of child pornography and distributed it on the interent. It's illegal, bottom line.

Completely agree.

I'll bet the parents on both sides are proud. How embarassing is it for that girl though? She was asking for it I reckon.. in more ways than one *wink wink*

thats why you dont give the images to someone... you show them, then destroy them
or you could just strip down for the person and let them get the picture in their head...

do not take pictures of yourself and then give them away... you will be either shown to people who you dont want knowing what you look like, or they will be used as blackmail

I have to say he's an idiot for still saying he'll keep them up. He deserves this punishment, I think.

Still,
the charges for child pornography, I think it's a little bit too much. It's not like he's an adult anyway, and they only have 1 year of difference. Which is not a lot.

But I understand the fact that he exploited her. That's definitely immature, but I bet he will regret his actions.
