My dad lost his job...

My dad has had no job for a bout 4-5 months now and my mom is about to get laid off in a week because her company is moving to china or something like that. she only made like $14 dollars an hour too. not to be an ass or anything but i see my situation as a lot worse than yours. just go find some friends to hang out with or something that makes me feel better.

Poor all depends on the eyes of the person involved. Someone who makes $12 an hour spends a certain amount of money because they only have so much money. Someone that makes $36 an hour spends about the same in comparison. That means that you spend within your means. A bigger house, more expensive car. So even if both have a car note and a house payment, they are not the same amount of money, however its the same % of their income. If this makes sense. That is why someone that makes $36 an hour may feel like he doesnt have the money to make it on a layoff. But, if he invested good, the way you say it, sounds like he did, then he should be fine.

Still I'm worried we're going to like.. not be able to afford food we get so poor or something, but my dad found the company(down the street) that brought the contract he was working on, so he'll apply there.

to tell you the truth its not that bad.
my mom has lost her job like 3 times and now she has a steady one she likes.
and if your dad was paid 36 an hour, he must of had some experience in the field he was in. so therefore he could in fact find another job that would hire him.
when this happens you almost always have to start at the bottom and work your way back up.
there is no instant gratification when you loose your job.
i work in har labor, Landscaping.
and i have lost my job once, they moved to another state and i cant go so i left, but my employer "valued" me so he got me another job at another company, i had to start all over and now im back where i was.
its the game of life buddy.
no one provides sympathy in a situation like this.
