Exclamation desperate for zune help!

I live in the UK. A friend of mine bought me back a Zune 80gb as a gift on a trip to the US and I absolutely love it! It's my favorite (of many) gadget..

Only problem is it stopped working a little while ago. Just wouldn't switch on. At first it showed the battery symbol faintly on the screen but wouldn't charge or work when plugged into the mains. I tried all the reset actions described online but nothing.

As it was a gift, of course I have no receipt and I think any warranty would now be expired as it was over a year ago. All the repair centres are in the US as the Zune is not available here in the UK yet and that means large shipping costs and long waits for trans-atlantic shipping etc which I'm reluctant to do if possible.

Does anyone know the cure for this problem? Is it the battery that is the cause as I suspect or is it a software/hardware problem? I'm considering buying a new battery and replacing it myself but don't want to do that if it's not going to do any good.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated as I really want my Zune back!!

Cheers in advance

The battery does not seem to charge or charges very slowly when you try to charge a Zune device
or
Your Zune device does not respond when you press a button or a control
(sorry- neither one is great...but they're as close as I can come...)

Thumbs up

Thanks for the links - tried leaving my Zune plugged into the mains overnight but still just a faint battery symbol was all I got - it's made me more confident about replacing the battery..

Thanks again

You may be able to find an iPod battery to put inside.
