Hey, my touch pad on my Zune has stopped working. It works every once in a while when you reboot it a bunch of times, but only works for a short while. I have tried syncing it by putting more music on it and stuff, but it hasn't fixed the problem. Do you know if the new software that just came out will help? I also can't seem to get the zune software update to install either, is the 4.0 only for Zune HD's? Also, I have no warranty left as the one that I have right now is one that is a replacement for one that had close to the same problem.
Alright, couldn't get it to update. It downloaded the update, and started installing it, but all that happened was it kept turning on and off and the screen with Please Wait showed up on it. This happened since I last logged in on here. I don't think it's supposed to take 2 hours to do. So I unplugged, but it's still over here doing to same thing, turning on and off. What do I do?
I tried again this morning but the thing won't connect to the computer because it keeps shutting on and off and it still has the please wait sign, I guess that's the only thing it can do. I guess I'm screwed now.

Reason: Double.
Don't have soon properly on the other computer? You think it may be the sync cable? I doubt it is because it connected fine before, but it won't connect because the device is constantly turning on and off.
Finally got it to get off that screen. Recharged it, plugged it in went to go do the update, but it says it's updated, which sucks cause it didn't fix the problem. Any other thing I can do, or am I out 140 bucks?

It sounds as if this is a hardware problem rather than a firmware one. Unless you're are under warranty you may have to get a new Zune. That or you could just use the pad without the touch feature.
Just an FYI for you and everyone else, while your Zune is updating you should never (except in extreme cases) unplug it (I'm pretty sure the software gives you that warning also). I'm not sure if it was an error with the software in your case (with the on/off thing) but unplugging it should be a last resort thing.

Yes, I'm well aware, but it was sitting there doing nothing. It wasn't loading anything, just turning on and off. Anyone know of any fixes, somebody I could take it to to fix it, etc. I'm sure it's in the hardware somewhere as it worked the other day for 15 minutes after I rebooted it then I went to turn the volume up to ten and it stuck and went to 20.
I'm hoping I can get it fixed.
