Painting a zune 8gb, can it be done?

So someone wants to trade their zune 8gb for my nano 4gb. Thing is, their zune is pink...

Well, I looked online for a replacement cover to see if I could spend a small amount to make it look nicer, but the touch pad makes the cost way too much.

I was wondering if I could easily paint the device with some kind of paint (say, modeling paint or something recommended) and how that would affect the touch pad (also pink...) whether that be a big affect or something negligible.

Also, please tell me outright if i'm stupid and I shouldn't do this to a zune, because I haven't traded yet, so it doesn't matter that much, really.

EDIT: also, I already have a zune 30, but I wanted a portable zune, and I like the squircle.

go for the zune and just get a skin from skin-it.com and do it like that. that would be the easiest way and you can customize the skin completely.

Decalgirl.com has some wicked skins, easy to put on and take off and look great. I got a Starry Night one for my 4gig, they even supplied a wallpaper that filled in the spot the screen took up. Its a great trade, go for it.

Hmm... Does it cover the touch pad? I would hate the blaring pink pad being there. The preview on their site shows the skin covering the pad, but I don't know how that would begin to work..

idk let me look it up and see. even without the skin you are getin a really good deal. #1 because it is a Zune and #2 because you gain double your storage.

ok it looks like it does actually go on the pad. you will probably see a little pink but hey like i said in the post above. you are by far getting the better deal.

Awesome, I think I will. But i really wonder if that would affect the ability of the touch pad. I guess I can test it with a piece of paper over the pad, but w/e

if worse comes to worse and the skin still doesn't work, you still have better hardware and software. Zune rocks

Well, I looked and i found one for a good price.... It's pink.

I'm just going to go the full cover sticker route, I think. Thanks for all the help. Also, is there a way to change the icon that comes up for the zune in the software? There was I tutorial I found, but the screenshots were all dead links.
