[Please Read] Easy Fixes for Less common Zune problems

Touch pad doesn't work at all
Press play until music starts and let the Zune run dry. When it boots up again the touchpad will work.

My Zune is quiet when hooked up to the stereo
Because the Zune is not receiving power from an external source, the volume will be quieter than something such as a CD or DVD player. Simply turn up the volume of the stereo. It will not harm it in any way.

My Zune won't show up on the computer
The drivers may be corrupted and therefore need to be reinstalled. Reinstall Zune but first make sure the Zune is charging when it's connected. It it's not, then the problem is most likely the cable and you need to buy a new one.

None of my album art is showing up
The Album art is probably embedded in the MP3. The Zune uses an external image for album art, so just right click and click "find album info" to get the image so that the album art can appear. If you don't have Broadband internet just get the image and then right click and click "Update Album Art" to do the same thing.

My Podcast just stops in the middle
The podcast never actually finnished downloading. Delete the podcast episode from the Zune and software (mark it as watched) and then re-download it and it should work.

My Song(s) randomly stop and start while playing
The song(s) most likely got corrupted while syncing. Just delete the problem songs and sync them again. If all the songs are stopping and starting randomly, consider doing a hard reset of your Zune, although the problem is most likely with the hard drive itself. Something we won't cover in the easy fixes guide.

Most other Zune problems can be solved by restarting the Zune. You can press back + Up to do this and please try this at least before requesting any support.

hey i had the my zune wont show up on my computer problem and i havent tried iit yet but i will in a minute but i just wanted to ask if you knew how to fix the play/pause button. a while ago it stopped working suddenly and i have just been pulling my headphones out to pause it and then locking it to go to sleep since i cant turn it off. if you could tell me how to fix it i would very much apriechiate it. and i have the 8gb zune.

Sorry to be rude, but please create a new thread for your Zune problems. Also, try to be more descriptive and use better English (That includes correct grammar such as capitalization and sentence fluency) because otherwise I will not help you with your problem. Just read my signature.

I've been having the 'album art wont show up' issue, but it has only been since I updated the software and my zune, and only on new albums that I've added since the update. I have tried to change the art on the newly added albums, but even when it changes in the software on my computer, it wont change on my zune.

Go ahead and connect your zune and open your zune software.

Sign in to your Marketplace account and click on settings in the top right of the software.



Once your setting menu pops up, make sure that software is selected as the active tab.



Now on the left side of the page you will notice a list of settings, click on “Metadata and Ratings.”



Now once you’re in the Metadata settings, you see media info at the top of the page, make sure the box is checked that says, “Automatically update album art and metadata. This option must be selected if you want to use the Smart DJ and Mixview features. If you do not enable this option, Zune Marketplace will not know what’s in your collection.”



Then two new options will pop up, put a check In the one that says, “Replace all media information,” this is telling your software to refresh all of your metadata and artist info.



Now go to your zune in the bottom left of the sreen and hit sync, all of your information will now be updated and you’ll have all of your pictures and bios!!!!!

i'm sorry, this did not work either. i think there's just something wrong with the update that i got so that it wont show the album art, do you know how often updates come? maybe another update will fix my problem.

otherwise i'll just deal with no new album art. thankyou very much for trying.

I tried restarting my 8Gb zune but, the pad doesn't work at all along with the touch feature and the back button. Also, when i press play it just wakes up and I can't play music to help it run dry faster. Is this another z2k event? or is this just a common glitch with the 8gb? Can someone please tell me if letting the zune run dry fix this problem??? I am freacking out because I had alot of stuff on my 8Gb and it would be a pain to reset the zune and add everything again.
