I called zune support a few times and they haven't helped me at all, its not helping that I am computer illiterate either.
I have looked and looked for websites and tutitorials on how to do anything other than the marketplace, that I can do.
I can also rip a cd.....thats it.
I have spent about a month now and many hours trying to figure things out.
I think I should have stuck with the portable cd player I had.....
Tutitorials go so far and then stop right when I need the next steps.
the only thing I know how to do is rip a disk and get podcasts, music and so forth out of marketplace.
Thats it, I need help with getting links to work that I can transport to my zune.
Some of the links say they are mp3 ready and I still can't get them onto my zune.
I guess putting them in folders is also something I am having problems with, and which ones I have to do that too.
Like I said I am not sure I should have one of these.

1 to transfer music that you already have on your pc open zune software >settings>under software click on collection you should see different folders like c:\user\yourname\music that folder is where the software looks for music
and etc . you can add your own folder to monitor by clicking ad folder.....but make sure its under the right heading like if you want pictures ad a folder under pictures .... but the default folders are where you usually keep your files
2 to download youtube videos you can use http: //vixy.net/ just make sure you click "convert to mp4 for ipod " then once the video is downloaded drag and drop it in the video folder in windows and it will show up in the zune software
I wanted to transfer music, and podcasts from other website that isn't already on my computer, most of them say they are mp3 ready just click on link (these are free) For some reason I can't get them to transfer to zune so I can sync them.
The youtube download converted well and I put the folder in my videos in windows but I couldn't drag it down to my zune, it wouldn't go outside the perimeter of the area. It would turn into a circle with a line thru it.
Ok, one question, are you trying to take it from the Folder onto the Zune software then onto the Zune symbol? If, you are you are supposed to make the Software read the video file, in this case .mp4 and then once the software has the file in your collection you can then drag and drop it, but before you try to place it on your zune make sure the file can play through the Zune software, if the software cant play it then most likely the Zune cant.and another thing about getting youtube videos there actaully is a faster way to get them as direct .mp4, heres the site
, about the music, try and put all your music into one folder and not spread out on your computer, it makes it easier to get all of your music onto your Zune, once you've got them in one place find out that folders location on your computer normally it'll look something like this C:\Documents and Settings\Users\All Users(or your name if its your computer)\Music or if you use Vista like me C:\Users\(your name)\Music
and for the same for videos except Videos replacing Music
It took me a bit to get used to placing music onto my Zune also, just be patient with it

isn't it playing thru the software when it starts playing at the bottom of my screen when I have my zune software running? That is when I can't do anything with it but listen to it. I can't drag it or sync it or anything. It just plays until the song or podcast is thru.
Its gotta sync somehow?
well i cant help but ask is your zune connected?and if its connected is it showing up in the Zune software? if its not you may have a drivers issue but one last question, ar eyou running anything other then Microsoft Windows?

Hey Gang, I am overwhelmed at how much help I am getting here, it is really getting me thinking that I had no business buying an mp3 player, I am just too computer illiterate.
Well, I bought the thing and doggone if I am not going to give up on it. I have tried to get it to work for about 5 weeks now, yes it is getting old but everyday I keep trying for a few hours.
I am thinking of calling the zune support again, sooner or later they have to understand what is going on.
To mabus, yes I do have it connected and yes I am running microsoft windows.
I am enormously greatful for all the help I have been getting here, funny I have been all over the web, and you tube and no one actually shows me what to do with links outside of marketplace, and pasting url's and then getting them to sync with my zune. Also why I can't drop and drag or get a zune box on the left side with the yellow exclamation mark in it.
One day I will get it, I may just have to stick to marketplace and not worry about anything else

What is happening is......when I paste a url into the box and click it. the url appears on the far right column of the zune software. On the extreme left the zune symbol is in box with the url below it. But there is a yellow exclamation mark in it. When I try to drag it, it drags but doesn't sync.

when you click on add a podcast it asks for a url, so I am copying and pasting the url from the website I visited to get the podcast. These are free podcasts I am trying to get off of places other than marketplace.

That not a correct URL to put. When there is a yellow exclamation point in the box at the left, that means the URL that you put was not a link to a real podcast.

I tried again to download youtube and found my youtube on my desktop in mp3 format........after using the converter. Oh good gracious ha? LOL

Hi, I just tried it again and it gave me an error code, the html couldn't be read. Not a proper url I guess. Don't know what an RSS is, but it has to have that. Think I got the part that it can't use html. I wonder what else it cannot read????
So, as long as it has an RSS, I can get any podcast or music? I am interesting in hearing youtube, and other stores, such as walmart, itunes, and such.
