I'm trying to make a folder similar to Various Artists but it isn't working. I want to be able to put Soundtracks in a folder/artist by themselves. Some of these albums are by definition Various Artists but I want them listed with the artist Soundtracks instead. I have them tagged and in the actual directory as I would Various Artists but it is name Soundtracks.
I have the "Band" tag set to Soundtracks, I have the album folders named the same as the album tag as a subfolder of Soundtracks (all as I would VA). But it still isn't working.
Tomorrow I'm going to try again and be able to provide some more details. Have any of you had any success with something like this?
Open up WMP, highlight all the songs in the soundtrack, right click, choose advanced tag editor, and then go to artist, select album artist, check the box next to it and change the it Soundtracks

It still doesn't work. While I'm not using WMP11 I'm using foobar2000 and tags are still tags.
Before I load up the Zune software I have the Album Artist tag set to Soundtrack and the files are in the folder structure like this: .../Music/Soundtrack/Movie OST/01 - Intro.mp3 etc. where "Movie OST" is the same as the Album tag for each different movie. (FYI: the Artist is set to the movie name, so there is only one artist). I then load up the Zune software and they are still listed as each movie artist.
Then I load up foobar2000 again to check the tags and it shows the "BAND" tag as each movie's Artist tag. I change it to be "Soundtrack" save and open the Zune software, still has each movie as an artist.
I have things set up as I would Various Artists (which does work with Various Artist as the Album Artist/BAND) but it won't work for Soundtrack.
With WMP11 make sure u apply media information
go to library, click the little arrow and choose apply media information
Also is the zune software monitering ur folders?cuz if not then it wont update it
also try adding the songs manually just drag and drop the folders into the software
After trying to make them just be in the Various Artist category I found out there actually has to be at least 2 different artists. Changing one of the songs Artist tag so gibberish made the Zune software handle it as a Various Artist album.
But I am still unable to make it say "Soundtrack" instead of "Various Artist" even if the Album Artist and BAND tags are set to be as such.
Durr... I'm retarded, I could just set their Artist tag to Soundtrack and that would do most of what I want out of the grouping stuff...
