Default Remote Control with Dock

I just bought a remote for the Zune at our local CompUSA that's going out of business for $6. I want to buy a dock for it but I'm not sure if the newer dock will support the remote. It looks like the older remote that has the volume buttons on the bottom and the older main button like the 30 gig Zune. Does anyone know if it will work with the new dock? I already have the A/V cables. I bought those thinking I wouldn't ever want the remote/dock. But after getting up after each video, etc., it gets old. I have the 30 gig Zune and the 80 gig, but I'm sure that doesn't matter. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

I have two new Zunes ( 80 & 8 ) as well as two docking stations ( the old shiny round one and the new rectangle black one ) and 3 remotes. The ones with the volume buttons on the bottom ( all three of them ). One remote works totally fine, all buttons and function. The other two remotes have ONE button not working. On one it's the volume up and on the other the back button.

I called Zune Support for an exchange and they send me a brand new one. Guess what, now another button ( left or rewind ) isn't working !! Since ONE remote works perfectly fine, I can only assume that some remotes are incorrectly manufactured. I just used my "superduper" Logitech Remote and learned it all buttons from the working remote. So, I have two working remotes and two not working. Not sure if I try another exchange through Zune Support. I really don't use it too often.

Based on that, I'm going to go buy the new dock tomorrow. Hopefully the remote I got will work fine.

Does the Zune2 Dock support the touch feature? I doubt it, but who knows

After you get the new dock, just make sure to try ALL buttons and make sure they work.

And NO, the remote does not support the "touch" feature. All the buttons on the remote are "normal" push buttons.

Hmm... His review wasn't exactly the best it could've been, but as long as you're happy, that's what matters.

Well I bought the Dock2 today and the older remote works with it just fine. All buttons work on the remote too. I've only tried it with the 80 Gig. Haven't tried it with the 30 Gig yet. Also, the older remote has more buttons than the newer remote. My next test is going to be trying the different cable hookups and see if there's a bigger difference. I currently have the Zune A/V cable hooked up to the dock. Going to try the component cables eventually. Anyone else try this yet?

I think zune30 won't work with component cables through the dock.

Zune 30 will not work with component cables. It says that in the instructions.
