Some very important key combinations
If these don't work, refer to MS's website: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927001/ or http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926917/
Cool key combinations
Press and hold the play button and it will put your zune into sleep mode.
Press and hold the back button and it will take you to the main menu no matter where you are.
Press and hold the back + down buttons and your zune will go into deep sleep mode (so you don't waste battery).
Press and hold the back + up buttons to reset your zune. (This is just like a rest button on xbox or ps2, it won't delete anything)
Key combinations you might want to avoid (For these you have to do it while the zune is starting up at the ZUNE screen)
Press and hold the back + center + left buttons and the zune will delete everything it has on it, as well as the firmware.
Press and hold the back + center + right buttons and the zune will delete everything on it except the firmware.
(You actually have to press the buttons on a zune4, zune8, or zune80 not touch)
These do work with the updated zune firmware
These also work with the zune4, zune8, and zune80
These only work on a zune4, zune8, and zune80
Press and hold the back + play buttons and it will delete everything on it.
Press and hold back + center + play buttons and it will delete everything on it, as well as the firmware.
Here are color coordinated button combo pictures, to sync to your zune,
just incase you ever forget. (Courtesy of BrianLikesZune)
80GB
Black
4/8GB
Black
Green
Pink
Red
To get these on your zune,
>right click the corresponding color to your zune,
>"Save as" in your pictures folder
>Open zune software
>Select options
>Collection tab
>under the pictures section, make sure the folder that contains your picture is monitored
>drag the picture to your zune.

I'll wait to add it until somebody else can confirm. And besides just pressing back + left is easier. You might be pressing those and it only responds to those.

The Important key Combinations Sticky...
I tried like 4 or 5 times, I read this paragraph:
"
Key combinations you might want to avoid (For these you have to do it while the zune is starting up at the ZUNE screen)
Press and hold the back + center + left buttons and the zune will delete everything it has on it, as well as the firmware.
Press and hold the back + center + right buttons and the zune will delete everything on it except the firmware.
(You actually have to press the buttons on a zune4, zune8, or zune80 not touch)"
To reset everything including the firmware, you don't do anything like what that thing says. Infact, ALOT of guides online are wrong, they say the same thing your above paragraph is saying..After a while of searching, to hard reset everything, you press the
Back+Up button To reset
Immediately has the screen goes blank, press the Back+Left+Play/Pause Button
Then let it finish.
update it if you can, maybe it'll save time for other people who had the same problem as me..

You should have posted it in the thread instead of making a new topic.
Anyway

That kind of explains it.. Cam's guide is not wrong, you just misinterpreted.

I don't have a new zune so I can't tell, but Cam does so I'm betting it's right.

Well I did Cams thing, and it didn't work. Several different sites said it worked...I'm talking about the Zune80 btw.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927001/
I used MS's guide and it worked on my first shot. I was just pointing that out. But I mean, whatever. I'm just saying that if Cam's way does work for everyone, just do it the way it says on MS's site.

Pretty sure he's wrong this time. NONE of his guides ever use the Play/Pause Button, and it's definitely a combo for the Zune.
