Default Help, Random Rebooting 15 minutes into almost every audio file.

Hi, bought the 80gb zune about 2 weeks ago. From the beginning i have had this problem, but thought it was solved. I was told to drain the battery fully, then recharge it and re-sync. Something about not charging it fully before playing with it was an explanation i was given from geek squad.

Well, i got an audio book that i didnt convert from mp3 to wma. Every single 15 minute frame resulted in a reboot.

Any ideas?????

Thanks in advance

Try doing a hard reset(deletes fw+content) and re syncing.

Another possibility is that your MP3 audio file has a bad frame ! You may want to check the MP3 or wma file ! Sometimes MP3's work fine on desktops and certain players, but not on others if they have faulty frames !!

Google for "MP3-Utility" or re-encode your file to see if it makes a difference.

Well first off, geek squad doesnt know crap. lol you would want to try reinstalling the firmware. To do this hold play, middle and backs buttons after resetting the device by holding middle and up. Hope this helps.

Default RE:

I am willing to bet its a firmware problem because even my manually converted WMA's force a restart.

So, should I:
1.) reinstall the firmware

2.) delete all media and reinstall firmware

Also, sorry for not getting the template till now.

VERSION OF ZUNE
======================
80 GB

VERSION OF ZUNE SOFTWARE/FIRMWARE

HAVE YOU SEARCHED ONLINE/ZUNEBOARDS TO FIND A SOLUTION?

HAVE YOU RECEIVED ANY ERROR MESSAGES?

Default Same problem

I have the exact same problem. Three times today, 15 minutes into 2 different podcasts, my device gets quiet for a few seconds, makes a loud pop, and shuts down. I got my device in Feb. 2008.
I have about 50 GB of content, mostly converted from Vista Media Center, which took about 6 weeks to get converted and synced to the Zune so I am not very interested in hard resetting.
I just called into tech support and they basically told me to check the version and reboot and try again (which they wanted me to do while on the phone even after I told them it took 15 minutes). Then I can call back and send it for repair. I guess I will try the hard reset before I send it back to MS, since they are going to wipe it anyway.
Anyone have a real answer, and not something to "try".
