Album Art Fix for The Zune Device (Not the Software, the actual Device)
Hell YEAH!
I have just got the fix for EVERYONE that cannot get the album art to show up on their actual ZUNE device. This is not about the library, just the actual device.
When you are in the Zune Software, you have to Select all the tracks for the specific album you want to have artwork with, go to Edit Track Info.
Choose Picture, then find/place/copy whatever picture you want in there, and make sure to choose USER DEFINED in the drop down box. This will solve all of your problems. I just checked and double checked and it works for me no matter what.
RE: Album Art Fix for The Zune Device (Not the Software, the actual Device)
I hear ya. Everytime I add one into that section of the edit track info and put user defined it shows up. So bizarre that that would fix it. Now it's just a pain to get the right size and have to edit all these albums.
RE: Album Art Fix for The Zune Device (Not the Software, the actual Device)
Odd, I've had all my album art found automatically, and those that weren't I was able to right click on the album, or track(s) and select "Change Album Info" and was able to get it from the service.
Overriding the album art of course will work, since you are specifically telling it what image to use.

RE: Album Art Fix for The Zune Device (Not the Software, the actual Device)
Like I said, there are a ton of us out there that have albums and tracks that appear in the Zune software with no problem whatsoever. We can see the artwork without a problem. In fact, we can see the artwork for the albums that are on the Zune Device in the software with no problem. The problem we have is on the Zune Device itself if I'm like chilling not attached to a PC, then it displays no artwork.
This little fix helps solve that for all of us that are experiencing this issue, at least I hope it will. It does for me, I know that. It's a pain in the butt, but at least I can see artwork on my Zune Device now.

The way I got them to show on mine is...
In Zune Software,
I right click on a song, and choose Edit Track Info
Then go to pictures, remove all pictures there if there are any.
Search my HD for a picture to put in, and then choose user defined in the drop down.
Do that for each song of the album, and then sync.
It should show them on the Zune Device now instead of you just seeing the album art in the software only.

Funny, i was gonna return mine today after this very issue wouldn't stop bothering me. Before I do, I'll try this and report back here. Should be around 4 PM pacific time.
RE: Album Art Fix for The Zune Device (Not the Software, the actual Device)
Been scouring the web for days for a solution and it's good to know there's others being driven mad by the album art not showing up. Unfortunately this doesn't work for me either. Love the Zune though.

So, 3-4 people have tried this and had no luck so far. Hmmm. The only other thing I can think of that changed from when I did not have any luck with album art to when i did, is that it did a clock sync between the Zune and my computer, because the times were off.
I don't think something that simple would cause the album art to start working though... But maybe it did.
The only other thing I can think of is making sure that if you try this out.. Make sure the Zune itself does not have the album on it.
Then do the fix the way I said above. Then sync up and put the album on the Zune.
Let me know if that way works.
Like I said, it could be that mine just works now because of a clock sync, and not anything else, but I'd like to believe this would help others out.

RE: Album Art Fix for The Zune Device (Not the Software, the actual Device)
For those of you that have album art displayed in the software, but is not getting to the device during sync, there are a few things you can try:
1. Make sure that the PC you are attempting to sync from has been individualized. You can do that from http://services.wmdrm.windowsmedia.c...en/indivit.asp Note that if you cannot indiv correctly there is something wrong with the DRM components on you PC and you may be able to resolve by checking WMDRM newsgroup postings for solutions. This was a requirement in the v1 RTM zune software that has been mitigated in the next zune software update (x-mas time). If your box does not individualize correctly you will not get art using the v1 RTM software, period. If you cannot indiv it is not a Zune softwaredevice issue and is a WMDRM issue so Zune support folks won't be able to help (been there done that)
2. Delete the album from the device and try to re-sync it.
Note that if you are using the hack to copy content to the device from explorer I don't think you will ever get art to display on the device.

does it mean i should fire my pc out of the window?

Hmm, that's interesting that it would be grayed out. I wouldn't throw out the PC just yet though. You can also try to create a marketplace trial account and see if you can sync subscription content. If you can and still don't have album art it's a seperate issue. Your box must be indiv'd to sync subscription content, which is also where the device clock comes in to play
RE: Album Art Fix for The Zune Device (Not the Software, the actual Device)
thanks again for your help.......is it me or does the line "your box must be indiv'd" make anyone else giggle....tee hee
i don't know its late.......

thanx didnt work for me either. i even had 3 picture in the picture section of the track info and none of them transfered over to the device
RE: Album Art Fix for The Zune Device (Not the Software, the actual Device)
Thanks for the attempt, but it didn't work. When the hell is MS gonna wake up and fix this? Rudimentary statistics: this site just got its 1000th member, there's about 10 of us w/this album art glitch (probably more, who don't know where to go to voice their displeasure), which comprises about 1% of the entire zune userbase. I suppose that's not enough people for a change to be made. If I were M$ I wouldn't care about me either
So what do I do now? Does anybody know when the next firmware update is scheduled to be? They'll probably wait for after the xmas holiday to pick up the pieces and try to fix everything. I'm sure our problem is low on th elist. Great.
