Problems right off the bat

Well, just got my Zune yesterday, installed it and seemed to sync my songs, pic & vids. Well next time I start it up I see nothing in my Zune PC library. Nothing at all anywhere. 4 gigs worth on my Zune though. So I put a cd in my computer drive to rip some music to the Zune. Ripped the first 7 songs then stopped. 4 songs short of the end. Took out the cd from the drive and my library has not recollection of any music at all. The 7 songs are in my Zune program folder but dont show up in my library. And also the folders set for Zune to monitor looks to be deleted. So I go and tell it what folders to monitor again, but after that box has closed, next time I look it shows that it is monitoring NO folders.... what gives?
I have had and seen my share of mp3 software. Rarely does an mp3 player software install and work perfectly right off the bat. But so far Zune software has me stumped. Any answers?
