Zune Software crashed now does not recognize my zune

Hey all, I think I saw someone else talking about this on another forum, but now I can't find it...

I had an error syncing my zune, so I hit stop sync. then it told me I could remove my zune safely, I did. Then I closed the Zune Software and "back + Up" reset my zune. whiel I waited for my zune to boot back up, I went to get a drink. When I came back a message was on my PC that said something like

your library database has become corrupted and will be deleted. It will be rebuilt next time you run the software.

I think it also said something about having to re-add my media, but not sure. so, I restarted the zune software and it told me: "There are no items in this library yet - the software is searchign for digital media files in the background. Click here to add files to the library now." so I clicked, it brought up the "add folders to library" screen, everything was still there, except my music folder (btw I created a "zune" folder in my docs, and a "music", "movies", and "pictures" folder in it so I can keep my zune files separate from my pc files (easier to find stuff to sync when you have 6000 songs plus videos and over 200,000 pictures on your pc, not porn, I am a photographer and usually take 300 - 1000 or so pictures every/every other week).

well, it did not give me the "adding media files" or "searching for media files" dialogue that normally pops up. I plugged in my Zune, the sync message poped up on the zune for 3 seconds, then it went to connected; however the Zune software never recognized it and kept telling me to connect a zune. it also never added any files. so I reset the zune, and exited the program.

now I tried everything again. all went the same, EXCEPT the zune software no longer had any folders listed in the "monitor" area of the add folders to the library window. I re-added the folders again and clicked okay, still no searchin/ading files window poped up and the software said there were no files.

so I tried it again. all went the same, including the no folders listed in the add folders to library window monitor section.

So this time I checked my HDD and the files are all still in those folders, nothing is missing, but I cannot connect, sync, nor add anything to the library.

My Zune is not listed on the left hand column anymore.

am trying to repair the software now, will repost after I do

Okay, no repair option. I gues I will uninstall it and reinstall it.

Yup. Your best bet is to uninstall and reinstall the software. Depending on how much you like your Zune's name, you can use the guest hack to avoid those nagging connect as guest screens. Of couse, since you have nothing on it, you could skip the hassle of installing a hack and go ahead and format/rename it.

RL Zune Users I know:2 + me however my local gamestop stores have sold about 300. unfortunately I live in a tourist town, so many of those are probably no longer in the area.
