Default After turning your zune into a Usb device?

So i did the regedit thing, and i can see my zune in "My computer."
now when i try to extract files from my zune it says Access is denied, and my Folders have little locks on them.

How if so, would i go about being able to copy whats on my zune and put it on my HD. I recently had to reformat and all my music is on my zune.

well, heres the deal you going to have to trick your zune, i believe. into thinking your syncing files while you steal back your stuff.

all you have to do is synx something new to your zune, something like 1 file that may take about a minute, or something that gives you just enough time to do what you have to do and get out.

so sync it, while its syncing have the folder up with your music, and just copy and paste to your desktop for example. should work

I still can't seem to get it to work, i sync something up and quickly paste my music folder from the zune to my desk top, but it still says access is denied

what are you trying to take off of your zune? if it's a song someone sent you, you can't do it like that. You have to take the DRM protection off. (I think)

Anyway... if it's something like... a file you stored on there, like a word document... then I don't know why it wouldn't allow you access to it.

I had all my music on my Zune and Computer. So recently i had to reformat. So all my music on my computer is gone. And my entire music library is on my Zune now.

What i want to do, is get my music off my Zune so i can put it on my computer. Because the Zune player won't play my music because its not on the computer also.

so what you did was... synced your files to your zune, then tried to take them off with the hard drive hack.

If that's what you did. this is what you should have done (I think)
delete everything off your zune, then drag and drop everything onto it with the hard drive hack. So when you need them later... they won't have the protection on them anymore.

There's still hope though. Use the guest hack to get all your music back onto your computer. I don't use the hack... so im not sure if it'll work.

I did use the hack. I still got my music on my Zune. It didn't delete it like it said it was going to. But what im saying is my entire library is on my zune, and i want to extract it to my computer so i can listen to it. The zune program reads that i have the music on said zune. But will not play the music offa it unless its on my computers HD

Then just do that. Isn't that what you want? To put the music back onto your hdd?

But it won't let me transfer it from my zune to my computer. My files are locked on the zune. and it denies me access when i try copy it over.

was I right though? did you put the files into your zune with the software, or did you add them with the hack?

oh one more question. you can have the file on your computer but you can't use the file.

There are programs that can take the DRM protection off of the file.

I had already put the files onto my Zune before i reformated. In order to not have them deleted by the software i had to use the hack. The file that is locked are the files on the Zune itself. It will not let me open the zune via regedit usb and transfer them to my computer. Says access denied

oh oh oh... I gotcha... did you try the guest hack?

with that: you can connect the zune as a "guest" to your computer... then take all the files off of it. Then make it the home computer.

If i was to say, atm its connected as a guest. But if i wanted to connect it as a regular zune i would loose all my music would that make sense? I have no back ups of my music other than whats on my zune. So i want to rip the music from the zune to put on my HD. but it won't allow me to do so.

ok... this is what I think you can do.
get the guest hack working.

connect your zune

copy all the files off of your zune with the zune software.

then make the make the computer the home for the zune, and sync all the file back onto it.

like I said, I think you can do this. I don't use the guest hack, but I'm pretty sure this is something you can do with it.
