zune says it's full

my zune says all 29.81 GB is filled up, but nothing but the menu is on it. I have deleted everything off it twice and it still says it's full. before it deleted everything on itself a while ago I had only used 18.01 GB. so I'm curious, is it possible that the hard drive is loose?it that some how my zune got bricked?

no, it just says it's full. I used the MS guide for deleting everything from it because it was acting up and it had already deleted everything else, or so it said. it can't sync and I tried to get it to sync on the comp I'm on. it gave me a choice to remove everything that it said was on my zune in the zune software, but when I tried it said device not readable and my zune ejected itself, again. so is it possible that it has a loose wire or battery or something?

Have you tried the reformat commands, or the wipe command

Clear Content (Format from Device) – Clears all media content from the device, but leaves the firmware intact.
V1 Devices (Zune 30): Press and hold Back + Right + OK
V2 Devices (Zune 4/8 and 80): Press and hold Back + Play/Pause


Initialize Disk – Removes the content and the firmware. Device will be inoperable until connected to a PC so new firmware can be installed.
V1 Devices (Zune 30): Press and hold Back + Left + OK
V2 Devices (Zune 4/8 and 80): Press and hold Back + OK + Play/Pause

It could be the firmware is corrupt

Did you definitely try the partition wipe?

If so, perhaps the next step is to try the Zune on another PC, or unzoone the one you have:

Remove-it.org > Tools > UnZoone

Worst case scenario would be to take it apart, pull out the Zune HDD, connect it to a ZIF converter board, and wipe the drive that way. I would suggest a site like Dealextreme for the converter (IDE example: DealExtreme: $4.81 ZIF to 3.5-inch Bilateral IDE Hard Drive Converter).

done those too. it's ok though, my moms friend who fixes comp's and mp3 players will be in town tomorrow and he said he'd try to fix it for me.

did you try to charge it? plug it into a computer to see if that works after trying to charge it.
