New 30GB, Radio does not work, asking before I send it in for repair

So I received a new (not refurb) pink Zune today and everything seems to work well, except for the radio.

I can't change stations. It's stuck on 87.5 and no sound comes through either. I already called Zune phone support and they're having me send it back but I thought I would check here first. I think it's a hardware issue but if anyone has an idea of what software problem could cause this I'd love to know.

Here's what my message to support said:
"Unable to use radio on brand new 30GB Zune. Updated software/firmware to 3.1 upon receipt. In the main Zune menu, click on the radio option. Nothing happens, Zune is frozen for a few seconds. After it is unfrozen, can click up and down again, select radio again. From there it's frozen on 87.5 and cannot change the station nor hear anything. Tried hard/soft resets and reinstalled firmware. Also when I turn off the Zune while in radio mode it will not turn back on and must soft reset to turn on."

You are probably right in thinking it's a hardware issue, I would say the safest most convenient path to take would be sending it in to repair

Finally!

Took them a whole month, but I got the replacement by UPS today. Sounds like a lot of Zunes were stuck on a UPS truck in TX somewhere between Laredo and McAllen. Maybe Jabil didn't pay their UPS bills.


Apparently, they don't even try to repair the 30GBs anymore. I got a new-looking refurbished pink 30GB Zune. The radio does work However it's still on zune 1 firmware so I'm going to have to upgrade it soon. Unfortunately the 30 day warranty timer started counting down early last week.

Anyway, wish me luck! It's been a long month
