How to change the name of your Zune device

SUMMARY

This article describes how to change the name of your Zune device.

Note: The name of your Zune device appears when you synchronize your Zune device. The name of your Zune device also appears in the Community twist under Me on your Zune device and under Nearby on other Zune devices that are within range.

How-To

To change the name of your Zune device, follow these steps:

Start Zune Software, and then connect your Zune device to a computer by using the Zune Sync cable.
After your Zune device connects to Zune Software, click Options, click Sync, click <your device name>, and then click Advanced Options.
In the Device name text box, type the new device name, and then click OK.
Your Zune device name is now changed in the software.
After you disconnect your Zune device, the new device name will appear in the Community twist on a Zune device.
