Trying to fix my sister's bricked 30
Hi everyone! I'm hoping that someone here can help me out!
About 2 years ago my sister got a Zune 30 when my dad was down in the states.
She told me that after doing a firmware upgrade (to either 2.4 or 2.5, not sure which) it stopped working when disconnected from the USB cable (I should mention that this happened in the summer so it happened before this whole NYE hooplah).
Thinking that it was simply a firmware issue, I downloaded the Zune software onto my computer and upgraded the firmware to 3.1. The battery indicator showed a full charge, but when I would disconnect it it would run for about 30 seconds, then the screen would go blank. I'd hit the play button, and the Zune logo would flash a few times then i'd get a battery with an exclamation point.
I left it to charge overnight connected and it still did the same thing. Now I find that when I connect it, the Zune screen shows up, the progress bar slides along the bottom, then it shuts off and does it all again.
I've reset the unit and tried to reinstall the firmware about 3 times and this keeps happening.
The issue is that MS didn't sell this model in Canada so MS won't support it; either I figure out a way to fix it or it's bricked.
Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.
