Default Error charging zune. Power surge on hub port. Do I need a new battery?

I've owned my 30gb zune play for a long time now and I just starting having a problem with it. I normally plug my zune player into one of my computers usb ports to recharge it. Sometimes I plug it into an AC outlet to charge. Sometimes I plug it into my cars cigerette lighter to charge. Unfortuantly my zune will no longer recharge the battery using any of these methods. When I plug the player into any usb port and I've tried several computers and usb ports and I'm getting the error no matter what port I tried Windows is reporting this error

Power surge on hub port

As a computer technician I know that this problem has been fixed in the past using a self powered USB hub but since my player is not working with any method of recharging I'm leaning towards believing my battery has died and not the actual USB ports. Has anyone had this problem before and wouldn't mind telling me how you fixed it? Thanks for the help

EDIT: Just so people know this I contacted Microsoft about this issue I'm having and they were nice enough to offer me a replacement for it (refurbished) as they told me that this problem occured with some players when the Y2008k bug hit.

So if your zune is doing this too you should call them. My player was out of the 1 year warrenty window as well. Hope it helps.
