yes my battery had ran down twice now I have tried charging on my computer and wall charger to the same end

Same here. Zune 30 stopped working at exactly 2am Central Time. Just stuck on the boot screen. Same with my girlfriend's Zune 30 which I just got her for Christmas. They busted at exactly the same time. Her's was docked, mine was just sitting on my desk (yet was still on). Sounds like this is a nation-wide (if not worldwide) thing happening with everyone with a 30g Zune that has 3.1 firmware on it. Someone on the Zune.net forums said that their non-updated Zune 30 was still working.

Tried calling tech support but after wading through the recorded voice, it informed me that their agents aren't available except for during normal business hours.

Can't wait to see what happens in the morning. I wonder if this will make the news? Fark.com at least. The damned iPod people are probably going to laugh their asses off at us. <sigh>

mine froze too, my battery just went dead and i tried charging it, it did the same as StratMatt777's and then froze again. program still works fine, doesn't show that the zune is connected when it was plugged in...

Definitely an epic fail for Microsoft... If this isn't fixed somehow, I'm going to be pissed...

i tried charging after the battery died and it got stuck on the loading screed again!!!!!!!!

Thats the steps of a normal restart, right? At least we have some sort of acknowledgment from MS, even if it is a help page last revised in October...

If you open it up, it will void the warranty. All you can do when it's open is disconnect the battery. Just let it run out.

Just throwing myself into the whole mess. My battery was at about 10% when I turned it off, went to turn it on about a half hour later and I'm now stuck starting at the Zune logo and a full status bar. Let the battery die, recharged for a bit, tried all the button combos, and still nothing.

i have a 6 hour road trip later today, and of course, i'm responsible for the music.

same thing happend to me tonight, I lrft it charging on my dock, and now its froze on the boot screen. Darn MS, why can no company actually make a durable mp3 player, Plus i got no money to spend on a new one. Hopefully a solution appears, or if Ill save up for an Ipod touch.

It doesn't fix it! I just ran it out and reconnected... it charged until it had enough power to function and hung up on the boot screen again.

Guys if you open it up, you can fix it. My brother just did it with his. He opened it up,unplugged the battery,plugged it back it,and it worked fine.
