I'm so sick of having problems with my Zune. I've had quite a few, but this is the first one I haven't been able to fix. One day my computer decided to stop detecting the Zune device. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software many times, used Unzoon for the last few uninstalls, reinstalled with the latest software, and even wiped my Zune (Back+Left+Center). My Zune is now an expensive paperweight, and I can't get it to work at all. The Zune device detects when it's plugged into my PC, because it changes it's prompt from "Plug In Your Zune", to "On your pc, open the Zune software and restore the Zune device firmware.", but nothing shows up on the Zune software. Tried to update drivers manually, but got a "Device cannot start (Code 10)". I'm sorry to say that unless something drastic changes, my next portable media player won't be a Zune, but I do want it to work, because, in between all the various problems, I liked it. I'm thinking a reformat may be the only way to get it to work again, but I want to save that for a last resort, because it's kinda drastic, and if that doesn't work, it will be a huge hassle of reinstalling all my software, for nothing. I really don't need a paperweight.

Just tried this advice:
"run CMD"
right click and paste this:
net localgroup "Administrators" "NT Authority\Local Service" /add
it should say "command successful" or something like it... ( i did this to solve a different issue,)
run Ccleaner (if you have it, if you dont, delete TEMP files) & reboot..."

It worked, so far. The Zune software detected the device, and is downloading the firmware, version 3.0, right now. Based on the solution, can anybody tell me what happened to make it not work in the first place, so I can avoid causing it again? Also, are there any problems that would pop up (Zune related, or non) as a result of the solution?
