I've scrolled the boards looking for a problem like mine, still haven't found any problems like it. When I plug in my Zune into the computer, the software starts up then crashes displaying the following message:

I have upgraded to the 3.0 Firmware which has been working fine for me. Please help!!!

Default Possible Solution

Hey, I was getting the exact same error message as you were and I couldn't take it anymore, so I called Zune support. The solution that worked for me is stupid as hell.
Disconnect you computer from any/all sources of the internet. Plug the Zune in and start the software. Then reconnect you computer to the internet and you should be good to go.
For some stupid reason, if you are connected to the internet when your Zune is first plugged in, it will not connect properly and crash the software.

Hope this helps.
