Okay, this is the only major problem I have had with my Zune since getting it last Christmas. I plugged my Zune into my computer Wednesday night to charge. I ended up turning my computer off without realizing that the Zune was plugged into it. The next morning I turned on my computer, again, without realizing the Zune was connected. I disconnected my Zune and it wouldn't turn on. The only thing it would do is flash the Zune logo again and again before showing the low battery bar. When I plug it back into the computer the logo screen shows up and the loading bar fills, but when it fills the screen goes black and it starts reloading again. When I leave it hooked to the computer for about a half an hour the computer will finally detect it and the Zune will load up. The problem is that as soon as it's disconnected it goes back to having problems.
I have tried the hard reset button combination to no avail, it just goes back to starting and restarting. I have also wiped the Zune completely with that button combination and tried to reinstall the firmware but when I go to do so the Zune will randomly shut off and restart while it's installing and when it finally installs the problem persists. I am wondering if I can get any help with this problem. I no longer have a warranty on my Zune and to send it in to Microsoft to get it repaired will cost $129.95. I really do not want to pay the money to get mine repaired or even shell out the money for a new one, so I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem so I can get my Zune back to working order again. |

Interesting. I'll try to help you tomorrow morning when I get the time.
(Unless someone beats me to it)

Yeah, try leaving the Zune plugged in until the battery indicator turns green.
You can call customer support if that doesn't help at 1-877-GET-ZUNE you may be out of warranty, but they could help you further if there's any other way to correct the issue. Hope that helps...

there is the possibility that yr USB port isn't providing enough juice to actually charge the unit... it might be providing enough for it to be useable when plugged in that way, but not enough to actually *charge*.
try a standard (wall) charger. |
