Default [SOLVED] Wow.. 3.0 Update has DESTROYED my Zune. THANKS MICROSOFT.

Alright, so after I install the 3.0 update on my white zune30 I'm getting that weird "time doesn't show when playing songs" glitch that everyone is talking about.

Then after a couple of songs the Zune just freezes, refuses to shutdown, to restart with back and up (is that what a dry battery reset is btw?) and then runs out of battery about 6 hours later.

I connect it to my computer to charge. It works. Still getting the time doesn't show glitch. A couple songs later - happens again. Awesome. The 3.0 updates seemed awesome, but then it rendered my Zune useless.

Anyone have ANY idea how to fix this? Either way: thanks again Microsoft! Just when I think you've done something solid for once you just screw me again.

A dry battery reset is when you let the battery die.

Alright, let the Zune charge all the way up and before it freezes up again, do Back-Up. Then when you see the logo, hold Back-Center-Left to wipe the HD and firmware. Connect to reload the firmware and media.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I have no choice but to wipe all the data and put it all back on. Ugh.

Btw, any confirmation the wipe and re-install actually fixes the problem?

Yep. The good news is, that pretty much solves any and all problems. Good luck to you.

Just want to add something:

I just re-installed the firmware by hitting the "Install Games" button under settings (I think that reinstalls the firmware at least... it doesn't just re-install the games does it?) and the glitch with the song counter stuck at 0:00 seems to have disappeared.

I'm gonna try to go with this for awhile and see if it freezes up again or if the song counter glitch re-appears as I'd rather not put everything back on again as I have over 25gigs, some of it being movies which take a lonnggg time sync.

*crosses fingers*

If that works, I will hug you again and again; way easier for the zewbies than going through a wipe.

I'm sure Microsoft will release a bug-fix firmware shortly--the issues seem very widespread.

this is a bug found mostly on the 30-80-120 (hard-drive based) zunes
it should be getting fixed by m$ and will most likely (99.99% sure) that it will be fixed in the next firmware update.

yeah but how the heck long is that gonna take? it's quuite frustrating not knowing where in the song you are (particularly in a long song), and trying to skip to the beginning of the song only to be taken to the previous song.

Everyone just needs to be patient, Microsoft has an entire team dedicated to Zune, they already know of these problems and are probably working on an update to fix them.

As many have said before me, Patience is a Virtue.
