Old Zune, New Problems

Okay i've been scouring the forums but nobody as yet seems to have been experiencing the same issues as me. I have the Zune 30g first gen and it worked great for all of maybe 3 months. Then as time went the device would randomly begin shutting off during songs, particularly longer ones (I listen to alot of books). I decided to take the advice of the Microsoft Tech Support I cleared the Zune device of everything and rolled back the drivers. I am now on v3.0.532 as far as what it says on my PC and the Zune itself everytime I try and sync the device itself does A. Freeze on the Connected screen B. Freeze on the Syncing animation screen C. Restart D. Freeze on the main menu screen. When any of these happen I basically have to allow the battery to die before I can make anything else happen. I don't think my Zune has a bug or anything (though it is from Microsoft so i'm not putting it past them) but I've tried just about everything I can think of and am quite out of ideas. So if anyone knows what's goin on with my Zune do let me know.
