Hello,
Despite the herculean task of installing my new Zune 30, I have managed to load my music onto the device. Or so I thought. Missing is all my gapless music (ape, flac, m4a). I have the 2.5 firmware installed. I cannot even find this music in my "collection" even though it is in the same specified folder as all the other music. This is terribly frustrating considering one of the main reasons I purchased this player was because of the codec support. Please help me. I am running XP/ Sevrice Pack 2 Yes, I have searched both this site and others for help I have since tried to add the files using the removable hard drive method but was denied. Thanks in advance for any kind suggestions Last edited by Winnebago_Warrior : 06-24-2008 at 06:42 PM. |

The zune software doesn't support ape, flac and m4a files. Please read the user manual next time.

So, everything I've read about the 2.5 firmware supporting said flies is wrong? There is quite a bit suggesting that with the firmware upgrade the Zune does in fact support ape and flac files. I could post a bunch of links but you probably already know what I'm talking about. Even on zune.net it boasts gapless playback; and sure you could say that it's just referring to wma's, but I'm pretty sure it implies other audio formats. Well, thank you for the reply but to say the least I'm still a bit confused. If there is any sort of modification I can make to enable gapless audio I would much appreciate a hint.

See audio support. Zune does support gapless playback, however it does not support every audio format known to man. Convert the files to WMA.

Gapless playback is only a feature, not a format. Gapless playback only means playing songs back to back without a pause. Zune supports gapless playback for AAC, mp3, and WMA format so there's no need modify anything.

Can you link the articles saying that they're compatible with zune?
