I hadn't used my zune in several weeks. When I turned it on the low batter warning came on. I attached the zune to my laptop through the usb. First the charge screen came up, then after a few minutes it opened the main menu and the battery indicator was red. I let the zune charge through the usb for about 10 hours while I was asleep. When I checked it the next morning it was still on the same spot.
I rebooted it and tried again. After 2 hours it was still not charging. I then tried charging it through usb with the docking station, no luck. I then tried plugging it into the wall outlet and then my car charger. I have been trying to charge this thing for 3 days!!! All charging devices are zune. I should also mention that I just got my laptop back from the shop. It had to be reformatted. I re-installed the zune software. The laptop isn't recognizing the zune is connected. After all of this frustration I went to the zune site to look for a solution. The one I found and tried but probably shouldn't have was to restore. Now I have a screen that says connect zune to your pc. The problem is my computer is not recognizing the zune. It seems to be stuck on this screen. I can reboot but it comes back to this screen. Please help!!!! |

If you are really desperate, I heard that putting a battery in the freezer can help it hold a charge once more. I have not tried this, so do not attempt this unless you are ready to deal with the possibility of your Zune exploding/other bad thing that I can't think of at this moment.

It sounds like something is wrong with either the cord you're using or where it connects to the Zune. Try connecting it using a different cable if you have one (Otherwise try to borrow one from a friend or get a new one for $20 at the store. If you can test it with a friend's, that would obviously be best so you're not out $20 for a cord that you don't even know for sure is going to solve your problem). If possible, also try connecting someone else's zune through your cord. These steps will tell us whether its the Zune or the cord. If it's the cord, as i said earlier, it's easily replaced. Otherwise it's the Zune itself, and you will have to call Microsoft Zune Support. -shudder- Hope this helps, and good luck!
