ive had my zune for over 4 months. its never connected or charged or has never been recognized on my computer. ive reinstalled the software. ive reformatted my hardrive on my computer and on the zune. iv used different usb cables. it works with my brothers computer just fine and it charges on my dvr. but it still cant be recognized at all. when i go to device manager it tells me that theres a 'code 10' error (device cannot start).
i noticed something odd though. i keep my zune plugged in in case it does anything. well i restarted my computer after i did a hard reset. and it told me to connect to my computer. and it never has. at startup for like 4 seconds the message changed and it said that it was connected and to open the zune software. then once my desktop stuff finished loading it couldnt be recognized. its been doing this for a while now everytime i restart or start my computer. the battery icon will say its charging then it stops when everything is done loading. so i think theres something blocking it from connecting when everything loads. im using xp sp3 Last edited by slightlyaddicting : 06-10-2008 at 07:31 PM. Reason: forgot stuff |

IN FOUR MONTHS? WTF?
Sounds like you should call microsoft at least. Other than that, you should do some research. Do you have other USB devices that work, or not? If they don't work as well, look for a driver according to your computer model, or motherboard.

1. Try re-setting your zune!
How do I reset my Zune? Sometimes a soft reset may be necessary if your player is acting up. You may, for example, be advised by technical support to reset your player as part of a troubleshooting effort. With your Zune turned on, press and hold the back (left) button and the "Up" button on the control pad at the same time. Your player will reset itself. How do I reformat my Zune player? Under rare circumstances you may need to reformat your player. (Typically you wouldn't do this unless directed to by Zune technical support.) First, press and hold the back (left) button and at the same time press and hold the "up" button on the control pad. The player will start to reset; as soon as it does, hold down the back button, center button, and right button at the same time. Your player will then inform you that it is deleting all media on device, and your Zune should revert to the "way it was" when you first pulled it out of the box - except that you will lose the pre-loaded content. There's no workaround for that one... yet! How do I reboot my Zune? You may need to do this if your player starts freezing or otherwise misbehaving. To reboot, press and hold the back (left) button, while pressing "up" on the control pad, and your Zune will reboot! 2. Try a different zune cord, maybe your zune cord is broken! 3. If you just bought your zune, re-turn it to the store, or exchange it 4. Also, the zune has a one year warranty on it, call the company: heres the phone number: Assistance by phone seven days a week: 1-877-GET-ZUNE (438-9863) TTY (hearing impaired) 1-800-801-1189 Hours of operation (daily): 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. EST 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. PST 5. Try re-setting your computer! Most computers come with a re-set disk! Maybe a driver got deleted! If your computer dosn't come with a reset disk, call a computer store, they will probabley have one! Or ask a friend, they might have one! Good Luck! I hope this helps! Also, If you have Windows Vista, you can wireless sync, not needing a driver, but you do need a wireless internet card! |

okay i fixed it um this is what happened..i have the zune device manager thing and i looked through it and found one file missing so i looked for it and downloaded it. restart ...nothing happened. i went to this [ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs.../oss206ww.exe] and downloaded some driver thing and i went to device manager and uninstalled all my usb drives and bam it was recognized and it synced and everything.
get the zune device manager and see if theres anything missing that could be the problem so yea i fixed it. ![]() |

heres what happened...a while ago i had my computer reformatted. i had drives installed for things that werent even on the computer. i went to go look at my usb drivers just to be curious and i only have 6 usb ports. well it was saying i have 12. i uninstalled that drive and disabled it. then for some reason i disabled my usb 2.0 controller cuz i dont have any high speed usb ports and theyre not meant for that. and my zune was recognized and everything. so that might help anyone... |
